Hi, I was thinking, would it be helpful for me to do this job?

I would take in requests from people who want rats
And find ads online and such as well as recieve notices from people interested in giving up rats
And pair them.

Not a rescue as I wouldn't be actually taking the rats in, just getting people in contact with each other.

Good idea?

Who knows how it would work out, but if you could pair just one needy rat with a loving home I think it would certainly be worth it. Smiley

that sounds like a great idea...maybe recruit some people to help with transporting ratties.

Hi,

I recently (read 2 mins ago) created a site to help find you the perfect rat to adopt and also help with surrenders. Please check it out before (or while you are) posting here or on other adoption forums. I hope I can help you make the perfect match!

www.ratmatch.goosemoose.com

Is there any way this topic could be stickied so people always see this option? Thanks so much.

I honestly don't see the point of your site. The adoption board does a really great job of announcing adoptables and people wanting rats. It's been working really well all this time. I don't see the need to post things in another place.

As for the bump, no need to bump things unless they make their way to page two. An hour and a half doesn't really warrant a bump.

while i love this forum i see people time and time agin talking past each other, such as having two side by side posts 1) i want a rat in va and 2)have too many rats in va. this site is to sort those things out. And its for other people too, not just forum users. i certainly understand if you don't want to sign up, but i'd like to give others the opportunity to do so.

That's what I do (I believe you e-mailed me when you were looking Smiley), except I go find people searching for pets in my spare time and e-mail them. I mostly frequent Craigslist, and occasionally I'll see someone looking elsewhere. I will warn you, if you do it how I do, you'll spend ALOT of time looking for people, and most of them won't ever even respond. Or they respond with a thank you, but you never know if they actually were able to find the pet out of the options you gave them. So it's not ultimately rewarding, really. Smiley

That's when you give them a link. Wink Works across forums, too! I hate it when people do that, too, though.  Tongue

I have merged the two topics regarding this.  While I applaud your effort, and wish you the best of luck with it, I don't think it's a service we can sticky at this time.  The adoption board here provides an easy-access place for people to find rats to adopt, or look for homes for rats that need placement.

I do have to say in her defense, while the adoption board is helpful to some, it might not be for others. It helps to have as many outlets for searching as possible. It couldn't hurt. I live in Florida and it might as well be another planet as far as rescues go, none really are close-by and I don't have the money, time or convenience of driving across the country to adopt. I wish! Smiley

I signed up with ratmatch and I received seven links and email addresses that I haven't been able to find on my own through hours of googling. Now, whether these people respond prompty, or at all, isn't her fault. It's the individual breeder/rescue/owner. I just wanted to speak up because already it has lead me in a few new directions on our search for a new girl or two for our home. I appreciate as many resources as possible in my quest for a new family member. Smiley No harm done in my opinion.

I've removed three posts considered 'discussion' in this thread.  If you don't want it locked, please, let's not continue to have discussions here.  At this point, it's merely for information.
