You should post this in the adoption forum.

Are you able to travel?
I know a girl in Belleville who has 7 young boys she needs to rehome.  Black berks and black self's.  I can contact her for her if you want me to?

There always seem to be rats available in Belleville & in Hamilton @ the OSPCA and transport may be available from someone (one of the foster homes) if you aren't able to travel.

Or you both could chip in towards shipping and have some shipped from the US to you Smiley just a thought.. but adopting from a shelter or humane society would really help out a poor rattie!

lol exactly why i didnt point our pet stores with rats in the area. and a know quite a few more out of disgust than anything. I have never even concidered shipping from the US but maybe from canada If anyone knows a good place to get a pair of pew boys. just to note zen rescues (bumpus place) has some boys and around december you can occationally adopt lab rats possibly from guelph.

Does shipping them cause any stress? I have seen some quotes and wow hundreds of dollars. But I geuss that's the only option if you don't live near breeders or anything.

I have been drooling over those boys but going to toronto to get them is impossible for me as i have no car. and i really hate to ask for a transport (it feels selfish) seeing as I have rats being driven to me on tuesday by a wonderful woman.

but hey I wouldnt say no and id pay for gas and of course have food and drinks and stuff for you.

If you're having rats being driven to you on Tuesday, do you still need more rats?  You said you're looking for two...

The 7 young boys in Belleville are very very cute, hand raised and love people. If you want more info on them Lilspaz or I can put you in touch with the girl who is trying to find them homes.

Hamilton Animal Control and the SPCA get in a lot of rats considering that the city is not the biggest.
I know you are looking for males, but they currently have three females up for adoption at the SPCA side...
http://www.hamiltonspca.com/adopt/default.asp?type=Other
That is the link to the 'Other' adoptions (meaning non cat or dog), which you can bookmark for the future.  They usually always have rats needing homes.
Also, you can look here:  http://www.ospca.on.ca/ta_ca_intr.html under 'Western Region' for all the affiliates of the SPCA that are in that area.  If you go through that list of links, I'm almost positive that you will find other rats at those shelters.
I just went through myself and found rats here:
http://www.brantfordspca.com/other.htm
and here:
http://www.orangevillespca.ca/furry.html
Then there is always PetFinder, which will also give you a list of animals at small rescues and some animal control facilities.
Also, check the PetFinder 'Classifieds' for personal rehoming situations.
There are lots of homeless rats out there in Southern Ontario, you just have to do a bit of searching.  If you are interested in rats that are far from you, but have been approved to adopt, post here or on Canada Rat Adoption Yahoo Group and request transport.  I have done a lot of transports for rats as far away as Barrie to the north, Kingston/Belleville to the east, and Hamilton/Kitchener in the west, so don't rule that out immediately.  If the timing is right, you might even have someone willing to go further, I've been to Ottawa and back to the GTA with rats and rabbits.  Believe me, people who volunteer to do transporting are not going to think you are being selfish.  All they care about is getting homeless rats into new homes.

munchies slave,  I've fixed the Quarantine to a different, better explained reason and how to quarantine ...

However, adoptions is not the place for discussion, so if you'd like to further discuss quarantine, please start a thread in Rat Care.  Thank you.

Its alright every1 i already got 2 rats about a week ago at the local Petsmart. They had about 8 and they all looked great! they had lab blocks and a pet store first for me, parsley and carrots! My rats are very friendly one of them licks me any time hes near me, like my feet, my hands and my face he even grooms my hair. It seems that they were handled daily at the store. I recommend that store to anybody in the area. Thanx for the help though.
