It's time for me to make up another batch of fresh foods for my boys. Before I head to the store I was wanting to get some opinions on spinach. I know it's considered a "superfood" for humans and its' recommended to eat it often. I've included it in pretty high amounts for my boys because it's high in Manganese, Calcium, and Vit. K all of which rats need in much higher amounts than humans.
The problem is it's also high in oxalates which, apparantly, bind to calcium in the body. I know that rats need LOTS of calcium relative to humans so I'm concerned that feeding them too much might not be so good. Or would all the other benefits of spinach outweigh this as long as lots of other foods in their diet are high in calcium. How often do you all give spinach to your boys? My boys love it but hey love all greens. They get tons of kale, bok choy, chinese cabbage, collard greens, etc. all of which are high in Ca. I'm just conerned that I don't undo all that with the spinach.
I'm always trying to give my boys the best nutrition possible so any help would be appreciated.
