Crazy Rattie Mama

« Reply #540 on: October 12, 2006, 03:09:09 PM »

almost two months old already?!!! where has the time gone?

angel is just as mischievous as my angel was, even if she is the opposite color. megan takes after her mom so much. how can you stand the sweetness without bursting?

has your brother named his pair and how are they doing? and has your brother started remodling his place to revolve around the ratties' world yet?

Hahaha...sometimes its pretty hard, they are absolutely adorable.   Heart  Angel brings me back to earth tho when she gets up to her mischief.  Bronwen plays a lot these days with me and her girls so sometimes it takes me a sec to figure out who I am wrestling with if I don't look at them, they are getting so big.   Yellow Cute Laugh

My brother has been having a rough month and hasn't been feeling particularly well.  No pics because his computer died again.  I only spoke to him once about the girls and I helped him name them.  The bigger bossier girl is now Didi (hindu for older sister), and the smaller one is Nammu (Sumerian goddess of the sea...he just liked the name. LOL)
My mom gives me updates on them all the time, she thinks they are amazing.  Smiley  Its hilarious that she tells me how her rats are doing and then I get to tell her how mine are.   Grin  His pair get out 3-4 times a day and loooove my brother.  My mom sewed some fleece throws together to cover the couch for them, made them a box castle to play in and it waits in the corner til they come down to play.  He really does like them a lot, and they sound pretty spoiled too....hahaha.

I have a feeling that Tucker and Bear's adopter's situation has changed and they aren't going to be adopted by her.  I am going to email her later this week to find out for sure.  I totally understand since these things happen don't they.  I had better not fall in love with them as well....
Stop it or I'm going to steal Tucker and Bear... lol just kidding Mike says if we had more money we'd be there to get them!

now that is a wonderful closeup of the silvered black coloring. bear looks so much like my morgan who is a silvered black berk as well.

it looks like megan's eyes are just a smidge darker than angel's. and if you ever can't tell them apart, just start petting them and see who bruxes Grin

Hahahahaha Don't you just love the little squished up faces, when they try to do the 'backward wiggle'  Cheeky  For me that's a typical rattie  Heart  Most of mine at the moment are go getters, only Peuta is the one to spend any time cuddling *sigh* That's OK, I'll get em in old age  Cheeky Smiley Heart

The girls as always are beautiful, I do hope you resolve the situation with Tucker and Bear, although I'm sure they are fully settled living with Ortiz and Beni  Cheeky

It's really lovely news to read that your brother and mum have helped those lovely PEW girls to settle in so well and I just love their names, please pass on my hugs to them and scritches to the girls, Didi and Nammu, I hope your brother picks up soon.  Grin Heart

The remaining Bronlings are 8 weeks old now.  Cheesy

Bronny and her daughters...Megan in the foreground...she loves her food.  Angel is more apt to like playing instead.

Bronwen is still a wee bit bigger

These 2 baby girls are much more crazy and rough when they play.  The boys bounce more but are more gentle with my hands...LOL.  Whoever said girls were the gentler sex!!   Yellow Cute Laugh

boyos later...

Aww, they all look fabulous! Bronny's looking terrific! And Megan and Angel are getting sooo big.

I have no idea who said females are the gentler sex, but they forgot to give the memo to Mac. She and the girls should lodge a complaint.  Yellow Cute Laugh

Its starting to look like the boys adopter has just plain disappeared.  Sad

Sooo here's the question.  I will be keeping the Ottawa boys since they aren't socializing as fast as they should.  They really draw a lot of confidence and learn by example from Tucker and Bear their cagemates.  If I did try to adopt my boys out, would that be detrimental to Beni and Ortiz's confidence and happiness?  Should I just give up and love them unless the perfect home shows up for these boys?   dontknow

Rattie slave and lovin every minute of it!

« Reply #553 on: October 18, 2006, 08:56:22 PM »

From the photos of Beni and Ortiz since they met the babies, there has been very obvious blossoming in their confidence and socialization.   Now have they just learned only by observation or have they bonded to Tucker and Bear?  And have  Tucker and Bear bonded to Beni and Ortiz?

If you're not sure or don't think they're all bonded to one another, then try an experiment to see if the Bronny boys can leave without setting the Otty boys back. Break the boys into two cages and see what happens with each pair.   That way you can make a decision without worry.

To me, I'm not so worried about the Ottawa boys regressing so much as I worry about everyone's emotional health if they're inlove with each other.  I mean, Beni and Ortiz can be neutered and introduced to some of your other rats to help continue their training.  But what say you about their attachment to the other boys and vice versa?

Tough decision sorting out your own emotions and trying to decipher theirs, too.

Hugs,
Robin

Ahhh I wish.  I had 3 spare cages.  One is on loan to a woman with an oops litter, another is being occupied by the new shelter girls, and the last I donated to a shelter in a desperate situation not long ago.  The only thing I have here I could use is a dwarf rabbit cage but the bar spacing is too big for the boys at the moment.   Undecided

Then it's all settled.  You gotta keep the four boys since you can't do the experiment.  See, that was easy!   Yellow Cute Laugh

Yellow Cute Laugh Yellow Cute Laugh Yellow Cute Laugh  I like DolciLady's thinking, if you are able to manage them, I'd keep them.

You have yet to reach full puberty will all the boys, approx 6mths, that may help you make a decision then.  My Charcoal is at present separated from his cage mates, as puberty made a huge difference to him and he began badly biting his cage mates, despite having been with them since 5wks of age.  Sad  So, for now, I'd just enjoy them and with your love and patience, purberty will be a breeze too.  Grin

The Poodah Pack!!

WWW
« Reply #560 on: October 19, 2006, 09:30:46 PM »

I can be there in 38 hours and 23 minutes according to Expedia driving directions. Is that enough time for the boys to pack? I have toys here, so they'll only need to bring absolute favorite things that they cannot possibly do without.
This route will take me through Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and then Ontario. Soooo... how many rattie kids do you think I can pick up on my way there? There's some excellent Ratteries on that route

I'll just bring Poodah with me, so he can keep me awake for the drive straight through   Hyper

...if only I really could make this trip. I would love to have these sweet boys hang out with my sweetie boy and his four sons.  Grin
