Hi guys

My name is Jessica and I work at a facility where we make materials for pharmaceutical companies. I work in the department where we have rats and mice. I have 2 rats that need to find a new home. And I’m out of luck and time. I did have 12 but I found everyone else a home. 8 of them are already gone, and 2 more leave at the end of the week. So I have 2 left that need a home.

They are pure bred lab rats. But we do not inject them with any medicine. We only use them, to test drinking valves.

-They are healthy males.
-They are just over 6 months old. Born March.
-Both white with red eyes. Fully grown.

They will need a little handling training, because I can't handle them a lot. Because my boss would get mad, and I have already pushed it by keeping them longer than what I was supposed to. I was supposed to put them to sleep 2 months ago. But I fell for them and did not have the heart to do so. But they are sweet and friendly. They love to watch me work.

I have been nipped once but that was because they caught my finger when I was giving them a treat. Oh and they love treats. They are not skittish.

Everyone else that took the other 8 have been really happy and said that they have been wonderful pets. And have never bitten anyone. The boys have been together since they were brought here. They get along with each other wonderfully, so if they have to stay together.

I would take them home with me, but I’m moving in the next month to another area, and do not want the extra pressure and responsibility of a pet and the places I have looked at do not allow pets.

Here is a picture of the 2 boys:

Please contact me ASAP if there is someone is able to take them.

I’m located in Waterford, Wisconsin so I can travel to the Milwaukee or Chicago areas. Or meet somewhere in between to do a hand off. I need to find them a home by the end of the week. I can provide some extra food. But I can't supply a cage.

Please contact me on here, or write me on Yahoo. My screen name is jlyn1980. My email is jlyn1980@yahoo.com. Or call me ******* I normally would not add a phone number, but my home computer is broken.

Thanks for your help.

There is a rescue in Wi that may take your boys and place them for you.  The Rhinelander Rat Rescue in Rhinelander, WI.  I'm not sure how full Shaz is right now, but it's worth a shot emailing her! http://geocities.com/rhinelander_rat_rescue/

Thanks so much for finding these guys good homes as pets!  I'm glad someone as kind as you is working in a place where these poor guys get used for any type of research.   I wish all lab rats were treated with respect like you show.  Thank you!

If you'll look in Claire's thread, I already told her (replied to the thread AND emailed her) that I can take them permanently. I am in Missouri and need help getting them as close as possible here. I haven't heard a thing back from Claire, but I can take them. If someone can foster until we get some transport that'd be great.

Guess what everyone.  A very nice guy will be taking them home.  Thanks so much for looking at this thread and thanks to everyone that tried to help me find a home for my boys.  Now comes the hard part, saying good-bye.

Hi everyone. I'm the lucky guy who is adopting the 2 boys.  Heather, I apologize for taking them after you responded to Caire's post.  I didn't see that post when I emailed Jessica.  If I had I wouldn't have done it.  I hope you don't have any hard feelings.  Again, I apologize.

I would take them if they were female - I already have one female. Sad
