I just got home and checked on my 2girls ,as Mia was sticking her head out of the hammock long enough to grab a yoogie i noticed a wound below her jaw. its like somebody bit her, she isnt bleeding and doesnt mind me messing with it, it looks like its trying to scab, which means it happend before today and i missed it. I feel awful i called my vet but non answered cause its surgrey day i know their swapmed, so i called another vet office but their officeclerk couldnt give me any advice without a doctor vist. I cant go anywhere still saturday! so a scheduled an early appointment. I just wanted to know if i could put Neosporin on her wound till i can get her in, since iits so close to her throught i dont think she can lick it off, but Kari her sister could. So should i seperate them? if i put the neosporin should i banage it too, i keep a petfirst aid kit in thre car cause i take my dogs through trails alot, i just never had anything so tiny before i dont want to injur her Worry

Neosporin is fine.  I'd wash it off with a warm washcloth and leave it personally.  Keep a good eye on it, making sure it doesn't start to abcess.  If so, then a round of antibiotics might be in order.  I wouldn't separate the girls.

Weird, and proud of it!

Yup, a warm washcloth to clean it, and then leave it be.  It should be fine.  Rats heal very fast, so I wouldn't be shocked if it happened today!  Neosporin is OK (just not the kind with pain reliever in it), and what we normally recommend is that you put it on, keep her (and her sister) distracted for about 5 minutes, at which point all the good stuff will have soaked in as much as it's going to, and you can wipe off the extra.  Smiley  But, she may not need it.  Hopefully she'll heal up quick with no abscesses!

My guy got hurt in a similar place, but slightly above his mouth, right where his whiskers are.  There was a flap of skin coming up.  I put a bit of Neosporin on it, and he was fine...it had adhered down by the next day, and no problems at all.  I didn't even think about calling the vet.  Embarrassed
