I think it's cruel, no animal lover would subject their animal to a tiny cage like that.  Angry

No animal lover would but someone who is breeding for food for snakes would.  I can see it being perfect for them.  As much as I hate the idea.

Feeder breeders are exactly who would use that, though those tubs are small even for feeder breeders.  For mice maybe.

try this link I came across while looking for rat cage plans

If you read in that eBay ad description it says that it was used in a research lab. Smiley

i was going to say for labs.  My ex's mom worked in a lab but they used actual lab cages.  The plastic ones with that have that metal bar thing that sits on the top that holds the water bottle and the lab blocks (which cuts the cage in half)

In a cage that's about 12 inches length to about 7 or 8 inches width, they housed 10 mice. (the dimesions could be a bit different, it's been awhile since I've had one....don't worry, she brought me home a baby mouse in one and told me I could keep the cage.....I used it as a cleaning cage only)

Well they were seriously overcrowding those mice, even beyond lab standards.  I found a link somewhere that listed recommended cage space per mouse for labs and that size cage, called a "shoebox" cage, is recommended to house no more than 3 adults.

I saw that on eBay too, and couldn't believe it was used in a lab. Poor babies. The seller lives right near here, but ah, no thank you! My babies deserve mansions, not closets!

You would be saddened / horrified to see in what small enclosures lab animals are kept.

That being said, I could totally use that thing to store all my craft / sculpting / painting supplies and tools.
