I'm a llama!

See subject.  Our four boys (all total sweeties) need a rat-sitter/boarder for ~10-ish days surrounding the X-mas holiday, as my husband and I will be flying out of state to see family.  (The person who usually watches them will be out of town, as well.)  Their vet's office (the wonderful Eastern Exotics in Fairfax, VA) does board, but charges ~$25 per pet per day (=$100/day=$700+), which we literally cannot afford.

We are willing to drive the boys as far away as Baltimore or the farthest-out suburbs on the Virginia side of D.C. (we're in College Park, MD).

Thank you so much for reading!  Any feedback/advice/etc. would be very much appreciated.

Wow -- I'm afraid I'm travelling for the holidays too so I can't help you with your ratsitting problem but I am so happy to see that you live in College Park, too. We just moved to the area and I had no idea there were any other rat people nearby. You say you have a good vet? Could we possibly compare notes? I could really use some help with this. My email is thymed(dot)recs(at)gmail(dot)com.

I know this belongs in a PM and I'm awfully sorry but I can't send them yet.

I live in Baltimore. I can't help I am trying to be able to keep my 2 girls as is.  And here I thought only people in Northern Climates kept ratties.

lycanandselenesmom and Trifilng,

Thanks for replying--there seems to be a relative shortage of rattie people around here, I agree.  (There are lots and lots of rattie people in the Chicago area [and Midwest in general], from what I've seen.)

Trifling/Beth, I'm going out for awhile this evening, but I'll email you regarding the vet when I get home. Smiley

Hey guys.  I'm in Silver Spring, MD I can ask my petsitter if he is interested and if so pass his info on to you.  He also has two rats of his own so not sure of the situation of where you want to keep them but he lives near me bout 30 to 45 min away from Baltimore.

mamarat2, thank you so much!  We haven't found anyone else yet, so please get back to me if your friend in Silver Spring is able to watch my four boys!

(If you'd like to email me instead of replying here, my addy is jen.e.beckman@gmail.com.)

Thanks again!
