Rat attack! Only banana chips can save us now!

« on: January 17, 2007, 04:55:24 PM »

I've been checking the usual sources, but no one here in the seattle area seems to have any boy ratties to adopt. I suppose thats a good thing, but I'd really like to add another 2-3 boys to my groop as one of my two is getting close to two years old, and I'd like to have cagemates for Geordie when the dreaded day finally arrives. Any hints?

Have you checked petfinder? http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi Seems like the Seattle Animal Shelter has male rats available.

This post is from November:

Hey Panda Phil- I had the same troubles as you a couple months back in the Seattle /Portland Area. I know 13Moons is expecting around Feb. and Eagle Eyes has some or will have some babies soon (if not already)

Other then that there have been some cute boys on craigslist lately. Both on the Portland craigslist and the Seattle one. There is one place here on craigslist called Squeak Squad Rattery which has 6 males (babies) up for adoption. I don't know if this rattery is legit but it is in the portland area. If you need some help getting the rats I can always help transport a little of the way.
Good Luck

Phil,
I'm up here in Everett and there is a breeder/rescuer here in Marysville. I know it's kinda far but an option. 4 of my rescues are from her.  Do a search on oddyssey design rattery.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I wish I could make it to the Seattle shelter, but it's an awfully long way from Auburn, and I'm not sure what busses run up there. Plus I guess I'm kinda shy about pet-store/shelter ratties. I've kinda had ba luck with them in the past, while nothing but good things have happened with breeder boys. Breaks my heart too since I know the shelter boys are so much more in need than the breeders.  Sad

Zine - craigslist seems promising. I've never used it before, but found a couple of possible leads. I'll get in touch with some of those folks.

And you're sweet to offer help with transport. I may take you up on it if I can't work anything out with the sellers. Last time I did an adoption I met the person over by Southcenter mall with a pet carrier.

Ah-ha, found directions to the Kent Animal Shelter. Gonna swing by there on my way home from a doctors apointment this morning. See if they have any boys first.

Kinda guilted myself into at least checking on any rescues.

Are you still looking for a an addition to your rattier family?  I have a rescued hairless dumbo rex male who is only a few months old, is very sweet and laid back.  I am in Seattle WA and would be willing to drive halfway to meet you.  Let me know if your interested!
