My husband and I have semi recently lost our beloved rat Charm. We got her a few years ago while I was working at the vet from a girl who's mother said she couldn't keep her. I was planning on bringing her to the humane society but she quickly found her way into our hearts. She was so loving and had such personality, there was no way we could give her up. Now, a few years later she has passed on and we would like to hopefully find two more. Only problem is, it seems around here dumbos are hard to find, well, females at least. If anyone has any ideas or knows of anyone who might be able to help us out please let us know. Thank you. Blue Dumbo Smile

*Update* Last night my husband decided to get a fancy rat who we are both excited about. But I am still looking for a younger female dumbo to keep her company. Thanks! Ratty Smiley

I got my two lovely, wonderful, delightful dumbo rats from the Dumbo Tree which is near Chicago.

From their original Herbs & Spices litter, this is Electra and Iphigenia (Ellie and Iffy, I forget their 'Herb' names!)

There's Pixie's World in Bloomington/Normal.  Not quite so close to you, but a lot closer than Woodridge.

Have you checked craigslist, petfinder or even the humane societies?

Well we caved in. We went to the pet store and looked at the feeder rats and brought home 3. They weren't very tame at all. They all ran and hid at any movement and sound. We have had them for about two weeks now and they have really improved. We love them! So now we have four rats when we were only looking for two. But they are great! They are so much fun to watch and interact with (even my dogs are amused). Their names are... Sage (siamese), Willow (tan/white), Karma (tan/white w/ a lightning bolt down her nose), and Crazy Daisy (grey/white, she was Lazy Daisy until her true personality came out). We will post pics soon! Thanks for all the help on the dumbos everyone. By the way, Willow is expecting she just started showing last week and now she is so big it looks like shes gonna pop. So from wanting two rats to having who knows how many soon. Too funny.  Ratty Smiley
