Kerfuffle is my heart rat!

« on: February 18, 2007, 06:49:43 PM »

Hello!

I'm looking at the one-level Machioro cages for Daredevil and Kerfuffle to share soon until my little guy gets snipped and can join the girls.

I like the Tommy 82 and the Rene 72... but I'm leaning towards the Rene since it looks like it has smaller bar-spacing, since I'd be using the cage for a hospital cage after everyone's settled in the main cage.

Does anyone recommend either of the cages?  And, better yet, does anyone know good places to get either of them??

Thanks a ton!!

I use a one level for my quarantine/temporary cage as well.  Smiley  Its made by Hagen and I would highly recommend it... they use 3/4" bar spacing.  If they carry them locally where you are I would take a look and see how it compares pricewise to the ones you are looking at.  (The Hagen cages I'm talking about are the ones with the deep white plastic pans.)

Thanks! I'll look them up!

The pet stores in town don't carry much of anything suitable for rats, but I'll check them out online!

I have the Marchioro 39"W X 21"D X 19"H. I used it for a few ratties, and it worked well. I currently don't use it, but when I did it nicely fit some igloos, hammocks, and a wodent wheel. I have it in storage in case I ever have older adult males who can't use their back legs well.

Thanks for the tip!

Here in Bowling Green, we only have a Petco and a couple smaller stores.  They really don't have anything suitable Sad

I think I might make a trip down to Nashville to see about stores down there (Petsmart, Superpets, etc)... I don't recall finding anything before, but it's been almost a year, so perhaps I'll have better luck!!

Alright, I decided to grab a Rene Rat 72 after finding one for around $50 instead of $70 or $80.  I seriously have no patience when it comes to buying things LOL

The rat calculator said it should be suitable for 2 rats if space is used wisely.  I will be adding in some hammocks and/or partial levels to make the most of the space.  It should be good for 2 rats for 3 or so weeks, though, I imagine!!

My dad reminded me of our fruitless search through the Nashville stores and said it was likely their stock of cages didn't change much.  So that and not really wanting to drive down there (lol) lead me to go ahead and purchase the fairly cheap Rene Rat cage.  Should I decide it isn't appropriate when I see it in person, the search will continue!!

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions!! I'm bound to refer back to this thread some day!!

Oh! Here's the link where I purchased the cage in case anyone is interested: http://www.petblvd.com/cgi-bin/pb/MAR36276.html?mv_pc=froogle

What's the wire spacing on that?  What are the cage dimensions?  That site gave zero info.  How nice of them!  LOL

LOL!  Yeah, sorry about that... I looked at other sites for info Smiley

The wire spacing I think is .5 inch according to someone's post in Pack Rat.

The dimensions are approx. 27"x17"x17" I think... I can't find the site that had it, but that's what I remember!

Why does it say that the minimum quantity to purchase is three?

Edit: Nevermind, I'm dumb, I was browsing and that was the 62. Still weird, though!
