the best way to describe the noise two of my girls make is a grunt. and it's only when they are stressed. ie: ticked that I am picking them up and wanting out of my hands, doing something they hate, etc. when I switched bedding it got worse and now one is sneezing. I am slowly ridding the cage of the bedding (I keep thinking I have the whole thing cleaned out and then I find one of Miki's stashes of the bedding. gah, MIKI.). now I'm not sure if this has triggered an allergy, URI, or what. neither are slowed down at all. I actually just had to go chase down one because she discovered how to push open my bedroom door if I don't latch it.  but it's still a grunt and I'm paranoid due to 1) new babies in the house 3) Kin having his chronic breathing issues.

due to having bad luck with genetics, I am used to the ins and outs of most respiratory issues now. (poor Kin) but this grunt is not one I've come across before!

My boys grunt when they have a URI, and it's mostly when they're excited or stressed.  They're on meds now, actually.  I'd say you need some meds.

One of my rats did exactly that. Our first vet said it was just a behavioral thing, but he actually had an abscess at the back of his throat and the beginnings of pneumonia. I'd get yours checked by a vet if you haven't already.

they're going on Wednesday! (the soonest they could get in).

I'm hoping it's not a URI, but Kin does have chronic problems and had pneumonia, so he could have passed something on. thank you!
