I have a 20G long, and it's way too small for a rat.  The only time I ever use tanks is when a rat is recovering from surgery, needs to be kept warm, and shouldn't move.

There really isn't any suitable cage for 2 rats that's only $30-$40.  Next time you want a new pet, research ahead of time what they require.

They need to get out of that tank ASAP.  Not in a month or two  Undecided

Can you take a picture of the tank?  Just to see the setup - I'm curious.

Honestly, we're not "attacking" you.  We're making recommendations and giving you information.  Simply because what you're doing isn't suitable or healthy currently for your rats, doesn't mean we're bashing you by attempting to help correct the problem(s).

Well, seeing as you won't take advice or information, I'll simply say good luck with your ratties.  Smiley

The first one's a good cage and a lot of people like it, but the second is way too small.  Never trust a cage that says it can double as a hamster enclosure  Tongue

The first cage is a decent one but the wire spacing might be too wide for young/small females. At least looks to me that way.

link,

now you miraculously have enough money to buy the large cage when just a few hours ago you only had $30-40 for a cage?....whats up?....I don't mean to be rude but I find your story and defensiveness suspicious...sorry just calling it like i see it in the middle of the night....I'm very tired but can't sleep...so may be cranky....sorry.

I do have to say that if you truly get that first cage for that price you will be amazed at how much room your ratties have....and then you will see how truly small your tank was for them!!  You will never go back to that small again.

IF you do continue to search for cages online be sure to check the sizes listed on the site.  Get out a yard stick and actually visualize the size of the cage.  That helped me.

Everyone just chill out please, I think everyone has had their chance to put in their two cents, and often it seems like everyone repeats each other... which can come off as an attack to the person who started the topic. I have felt this way myself. Some times getting a pet can be a learning experiance. So let's just put this behind us and welcome our new member and their furkids.

that cage that Willard showed looks smaller then the tank! look just stop attacking me i will get them a wire cage soon just not right now! they are happy in the tank until i buy a wire cage!

The cage I posted is 30" x 18" !!!  That's bigger than a 20 gal , tall or long.  It also has WIRE BARS so there is sufficient ventilation.  It's within your price range and it is big enough for 2 rats .  What's wrong with it?

I don't see where anyone attacked you. You asked for advice, and they were just telling you what they think is best. You can choose to follow their advice or not. I personally think they're right. I found an awesome cage on Craigslist for 20 bucks that will easily hold 3 rats. It's all a matter of looking.
