Any of you that have read my thread about odor control understand my dilemma with these two girls.

So I won't go into all of that. Just suffice it to say that I have, with a heavy heart, decided I need to let them go to someone who can stand to be in the same room with them and show them all the attention they desire. As much as I love 'em, thats becoming very obvious it's not me.  Blue Dumbo Big Eyes

SO instead I'll focus on telling all the great things about Schmoopsie and Poopsie.....

Schmoops, from day one, has been my heart rat. I absolutely love her, and being my first rat (her and her sister Poops came together from a small family owned pet store) she showed me how wonderful they can be. She is a beige dumbo girl, I got them earlier this spring, so they are still pretty young.

She loves to sit and "plot" revenges. (lol)

And she loves kittens.

And she loves her sister, Poopsie

Poops is pretty much the same as Schmoops, she is the same age, an agouti, apparently, though I'm not real "up" on my rat color names and markings....... Schmoops is a good friendly rat but she doesn't seek the humans the way Schmoops does.

Which is why I have a LOT more pictures of Schmoo than I do of Poopsie. Embarrassed

They get a daily mix of lab blocks, dog kibble, various human grade oats and cereals, (cheerios, rice/cornpuffs, oatmeals, and if they're real good, occasional fruit loops Wink ), rainbow pasta, parrot pellets, (zupreem fruit) large hookbill parrot seed/fruit/nut mix, and a small amount of seed mixed in. I also buy jars of human baby food and put a glop on plastic kiddy plates for them. They love the chicken, and several of the fruit types.

I am in Ashland Ohio. The zip is 44805 if anyone would like to mapquest it.

I *REALLY* prefer these two go to someone who is an established member of this board.

I don't know if I'm an established enough member of this board Sad , but I'm interested. Smiley My experience isn't extensive, but here's what I do have: I've raised 2 girls from 7 weeks to a bit over 3 years and dealt with 7 tumors, 5 respiratory infections, 2 urinary tract infections, epilepsy, hind leg degeneration, and poor(er) vision. I didn't have to, but I would've maxed out my credit card and then taken out a loan to pay those vet bills.  Heart

Edit: I'm live in Columbus, OH.

Turbo....

To be perfectly honest, I'm not active on this board enough to know "who's who" but as far as an "established member" goes I just meant I didn't want a newb just signing up to tell me they'd take them off my hands. I doubt, with your post count, that you're here looking for snake food.  Wink And that allows me to rest a little easier.....

What is important to me, is someone that will take excellent care of these two. Yes, they are driving my nose and head crazy. But I'd keep them their entire natural lives if that one good home didn't come along.

I'm only about an hour, hour and a half north of Columbus on I-71.

I'm so embarassed....

I had a bunch of great people that were willing to help me out in finding these girls a home. A wonderful person at the end of all that help whom was going to adopt them. And I felt very comfortable with the situation......

But then I realized something....

I can't let them go. Blue Dumbo Big Eyes

The "smell" drives me absolutely insane. And the constant TRYING of things to control it.....that drives me beyond insane.

But I can't get rid of Schmoopsie. She is such a perfect little rat. I had her out like I do at night, and I just couldn't imagine letting them leave here.

So......... I'm keeping them.

And if it takes me the rest of their lives and never figuring out what the odor issue is with me (beyond some freakish allergic reaction?) then that's the way it will be.

I'm sorry to all who had their hands in helping me only to be told nevermind. As you all can imagine, this has been a long term thing for me, and it took a lot of thinking, debating, etc. to come to the decision to finally let them go. But the realization of them leaving only hit when it started to all come together. And thats when I knew I couldn't do it.....
