For future reference, I was just wondering where all the breeders are around here, and if there were webpages that I could bookmark.

I highly recommend Debbie @ Sweet Genes Rattery - www.sweetgenes.com

I also can recommend Jennifer @ Blaze Craze Rattery -- www.freewebs.com/blazecraze

and Kathy @ Willow Creek Rattery -- http://www.geocities.com/willowcreekrats/

Then there's me! Dazzle Me Rattery - www.dazzlemerats.com
But be forwarned it is going through an.. ongoing... overhaul. I need to add lots of pics yet and update the litters sections. Best way to get info right now is to email me.

Wonderful - that's perfect.  Thanks for those links, ChicagoCrew.  I'm going through and bookmarking them for when I start looking in the future.  I did see Sweet Genes from ratty_pack's link, and have them bookmarked already. Smiley  Thanks for all the help!

I *most likely* won't be getting any more rats until ours are no longer with us.  But we'll see how it goes hehe.

Oh yeah w1ngs0fate ! I had pmed you some ratteries up in that area, and completely forgot about Blaze Craze Rattery, she's a nice girl that I have spoken to in the past and her rattery was established very responsibly and I would recommend her... I have not had any personal experience with the other ratteries she mentioned but have heard good things about all of them  Grin

Personally, if I lived in Chicago I would want DazzleMe rats.. Heck I live in Florida and want DazzleMe rats

Melina has adorable ratties. Not to mention she is pretty adorable herself. And very very nice.

Aww it sounds like everyone is so nice!  I can already tell, this is going to be a hard decision to make when the time comes.  I'm sure though, it will depend on a few things, such as when there will be another litter.  I have so much homework to do on this!  I really can't wait to visit a rattery (or maybe ratteries!) when the time comes.  I'm very excited.

Okay.  On that note, I've had communication with all those breeders.  Melina stands apart in answering all emails.

Skurry-

Most of the awesome breeders in NIRO have a waiting list for adoptions, but that doesn't stop you from sending them an email and letting them know you are looking! Sometimes breeders hear of rats needing homes in the area. I would highly recommend choosing a NIRO breeder like Dazzle Me or Sweet Genes (I have Sweet Genes rats and Cove rats from Michigan, myself) and going ahead with getting on the waiting list. There is a reason there is a waiting list- it's worth it! You are in an area where you're lucky enough to have access to what are in my opinion among the best breeders in the country. Take advantage of it and get a spot on one of those waiting lists!

Skurry, im not in chicago, but about 2 1/2 hours south of it in Normal IL... I have 1 upcoming litter with a waiting list (I probly could safely put one more person on but it's fairly full)... and then I have a "secret" litter that I won't reveal untill the babies are born, it's an extra special litter for anyone familiar with my ratties... All these babies are to be due around christmas time and ready to go early feb maybe even around V-day...  Heart

both litters will have dumbo's, minks, blues (russian and american), possibly some platinum... One litter will have rex one will be all standard fur... Both litters are fully pedigreed and the parents are amazing... You can email me if your interested. Otherwise I wish you luck in finding babies closer to you  Blue Dumbo Smile
