 help

Ok so by now Im sure everyone know's I work at Petsmart and dont feed my rats any of the rat food we sell at the store (much to the dissapointment of my boss etc.. Cookie has slimmed a little thanks to a bigger cage/ different food oh and a HYPER cagemate Lol).

But anyways..back to my question.

Right now I have a variation of the grain etc mix basically what I can get locally and mix in lab blocks. But...the lab blocks seem too hard and they dont seem to eat them alot either so I know their lacking in protein when they dont eat them...I do spoil them with dog treats occasionally (cuz my dog only gets them occasionally because she a lazy butt).  But I used to feed the Nutro Natural Choice Lite formula with the grain etc mix and my past rats loved it.

My biggest thing is I really have to get a food that is available at my work...it is very hard to get over to Pet Supplies (where they sell more of the higher end brands) and im not very happy with that store so try not to pop into there.

I was happy with the Nutro so Ive been thinking about going with it since Ive had past luck...but we do have other brands and Ive been tempted to try them out...

Nutro Natural Choice Lite/Senior - 14.0% protein

Blue Buffalo Senior-18.0% protein,

Nutro Ultra Weight Managment-16.0% protein

Nature's Recipe Senior Lamb and Rice meal - 19.0% protein

So from those higher end brands at the store..Im guessing im safer with the Nutro Lite...the least protein...what do you guys think?

Honestly, any of them would be ok.  Yes, some have a higher protein level, but when you consider other foods you're feeding, it's not going to matter too terribly much.  If you and your rats are happy with the Nutro, it will be fine.

I like Natural Balance anything.
I used the NB Vegetarian with great success.  It has good protein and fat levels for ratties.
Plus, NB is a very ethical company. No captive lab nutrition studies.

I use Solid Gold Holistique and the rats love it. You can order it online if you can't find a store in your area that carries it  Smiley.

I personally use the nutro and that's my fave. The other seem they would be fine too. Even if the protein is a bit higher it shouldn't bother the rats unless they have a protien sensitivity. Some other foods I like are Chicken Soup and I have also used diamond in a pinch, which is like a "lower end, high end" food, but it is still pretty good. Hopefully that helped and didn't just confuse you more! LOL

Thanks Y'all..I ended up buying a bag of Nutro Max for starters...so far their likeing it. When the one Nutro rep is in next time im working I'll get some of his coupons and get the Natural Choice but I figured the Max after looking at the ingredients and percenteges wasnt much different and cost wise it was nicer on my lack of money then the natural choice so shall see.
