cross posting from my group in case anyone can help:
ok everyone pass this around see what can be done.
in the lawrence eagle tribune from lawrence, ma. there was this ad in last nights paper.
RATS FREE
PET RATS, MANY COLORS & SIZES TO CHOOSE FROM
BRING YOUR OWN CAGE OR BOX 603 912 5512 AFTER 10AM.
this is a n.h. phone number.

i just called this person and hse/he i don't know which it was as i was just so disgusted. this person said they breed rats as feeders and just got overrun this month. she/he said they are all tame, pretty, and there's dumbos too. you can have what you want. top ears are all free but she'd/he'd like a dollar or two for the beautiful dumbos.
then this moron said oh and the snakes think they are tasty too.  so i asked why would they breed them then just give them away. i was told this person works w/local pet stores and they just didn't need that many this month.
this person is in salem, n.h.

i cannot bring myself to go there as i wouldn't be able to leave any behind and i cannot take any more in right now.

They are from Nashua NH and sell "feeder" rats regularly on craigslist and other classified sites. Its about money with these jerks.

Well I would love to go there even if I can just save a few. That is sad but it happens everywhere.

This would be no different than purchasing rats from a pet store, maybe even worse. You would just be making room for more to take their place.

Thank you Kimmyizme; that was my exact thought.  It's a terrible, sad situation but aren't they all.........................

This is not a person who had what they thought was two of the same, then rapidly got overwhelmed.  This is totally planned and will happen again in 3 months.

I know, I know, no discussions in Adoptions.  So I'm carefully climbing off my soap box now...................

I miss you and love you Teddy Ratsevelt and Benny.  Thank you for being my heart rats.

It's not the size of the pet in your life, it's the size of the life in your pet
