I recently had my male neutered. He is about 5-6 months old. I was wondering if anyone knows how long I need to wait to safely put him in with my girls. I have four females. One is his mom, one is his sister, and two are his aunts. I was told by one vet I only needed to wait a week , and another vet told me to wait a month.  I definitely do not want another oops, that's exactly how he got here. I was also wondering if I need to do slow intros with them? If so, how do I go about that?  Any advice would be great.

3 weeks.  Smiley  Happy healing and good luck with the intros!  Have you read any of the articles on intros?  I believe there's one in the Reference Desk/Internet Resource section.  Smiley

My vet recommends six weeks just to be safe. Three weeks to heal and six weeks till I can  do intros  was what I was told.

Most rats all of the leftover sperm will be dead by 2 weeks.

So you add on an additional week - 3 weeks - to make sure in case you have an exceptional individual all of his little swimmers will DEFINITELY be dead.

Yep, three weeks is recommended. The one and only time I had a boy neutered he was healed up within a week and was happily intro'd to a cage of girls and lived happily ever after Cheesy

Good luck!
