*bump* i got my Lady from RatAttack59 and she is the best girl ever! Great health and she is a big girl..shes the youngest of my four but slightly bigger...beautiful too!! Very well socialized! If you want a sweet rat these guys are a great choice!!

I would love to take one, to be my baby boys new friend (his brother, Aang, died last week)...

If you can get one out to Vancouver Island, BC, I would take one, but I can't travel for them.

New Pictures!  The noys went Pea Fishing while their cage was being cleaned!  They were WAY more interested in what I was doing with the camera than in fishing the peas out of the water. Note: their eyes are fine - not sure what the camera did (their tails on the other hand clearly need a good cleaning)

All six boys are still at home.  In theory, two have a home to go to in August.  The young lady taking them is traveling this summer, so I'm hoping that nothing changes. I should weigh these guys again (if they'll stay still that long) - they are getting big!

We've finally made enough progress with Butler that I can offer to place him as well.  He's a little older - probably about 6 months - and came to us absolutely terrified and possibly never before handled.  He is now anxious for interaction but still fearful. He does not yet take food from my hand but does come to greet me when I com into the room.  He will need a patient family! Picture to come...

Do any of your babies have dumbo ears? Not to be picky. I love PEWs, my fiance is a little turned off by them, but he love dumbos. They're all so cute, I love the white, stands out so nicely  Blue Dumbo Smile

i'd like to adopt two of them...
but both my parents (who both have P.h.Ds and know alot about animals) say that albinos are more prone to health issues... or, are PEW somehow different from albinos?

idk, i just don't want to fall in love just so they develop tumors early in life and die... Sad

well, their reasoning comes from when they were in collage and did experiments on rats (horrible i know, thats why they stopped doing that and moved onto more kind methods of research)... all of the rats were PEWs and most (that lived thro experiments) developed large numbers of tumors....

... thinking about it tho... hmmm...

maybe, as long as a PEW isn't a within a few generations of a true lab-rat it could be healthier... i mean, i suppose its possible that their chances of delevoping health problems goes down as their genes are mixed with more sturdy pet rats... idk, i think ill ask my dad when he get home from work to see if thats plausible....  Roll Eyes

Etta you can tell your dad that this bunch is already four months old, so they do not have early onset megacolon, which would be the worst genetic fault.  And while white animals tend to have eyesight issues, that really doesn't impact rats much, since they rely more on scent and touch anyway.

Most "issues" with lab rats come from diet and lack of excercize rather than genetics, imo.  And while we've had five resident pews in the house, only one of them had a tumor, and I have one old boy who is possibly over four (he was an adoption from a college-bound friend of my daughter, whose mother would not keep their rats) and another boy almost two. The girls are both under a year.  My guess it that the father of this litter would also be a pew, since the entire litter was, but Maggie came to us preggo so I really have no idea.

Let me know if I can assist in your campaign!  Two of these guys have been in their own cage and would be perfect.
