So my dear dumbo silvered mink, who was far too pretty for the feeder bin, was pregnant when I got her almost three weeks ago.  She popped today at around 4:00pm, but I can't exactly be sure.  I was too busy counting bare pink bums to figure out what time it was.  She had 17.  17 little ratties.  I'm taking pictures like a mad woman so I can post them here for your oooohs and aaaahs.  She has them in two neat little piles of cute right now and has been laying in between them.  She rolls over occasionally to suckle the other bunch.  I had heard of this behavior, but have never seen a large enough litter to accommodate it.  She is a great Momma.  She even let me pet her after the whole ordeal.  She bruxed for me.... tbc

Poor baby! She will need lots of extra protein???  Right?  I don't know anything about rats...but I know with mom cats and dogs they need extra stuff with the extra big litters.  Poor little girlie.  Can't wait to see pix!

Awwww. And I thought my rescue girl had a lot at 13!

Glad she had them with you and not in the feeder tank! Babies might have never made it to have hair as they may have been sold as "pinkies".

Can't wait to see their little faces and mommas. Cheesy

Yup.  Nursing does require a diet higher in protein.  That's why I offer baby soy formula (small amounts) and Royal Canin Puppy Chow.  It's actually pretty convenient because that's what our puppy is on right now lol.  You can just mix it in small quantities with more lab blocks than puppy chow and be sure to offer regular water and fruits and veggies too.

I haven't even seen them yet and I want to say awwwwwwwww. I want babies. I wanna adopt an already pregnant rattie so I can have babies. Patron needs a young friend to teach him that not all other rats are going to push him around. Good luck to you and momma and babies.

WOW  Blue Dumbo Big Eyes

My rescue girl had 13 and I cannot believe how much she eats and drinks (and poops!)  I'm giving her EMP made up with Lactol as well as tuna and cous cous, plus regular rat food mix.

Can't wait to see photos Cheesy
