rani is in the hospital-sad sunday update

last night i had to rush rani to the vet hospital at the university .  she was fine when they had dinner and their blueberry muffin, then maybe 15 minutes later i could hear her breathing halfway across the room.  she is still there in an oxygen cage.  she is eating and exploring--starting last night within 5 minutes of being put in the O2 cage.  they tried to do bloodwork, but when she started panicking they put her back in her cage. of course since she's having breathing issues they will not be able to knock her out.  please keep rani in your thoughts, prayers or whatever.

She is in my thoughts.  I really hope everything works out.  Good signs that she is exploring and active.

i went to see her today and she's still having trouble breathing despite being in an O2 cage. they have her on baytril and bronchodilator, and she's getting nebulized. i took her supergirl hammocks and baby food in addition to blocks and puffies. she also has oatmeal for breakast. she took a puffie and ate it immediately and took her blocks back to her bed. she'll be there over the weekend so it's gonna be $450 plus. the $180 emergency fee kills me every time, and i know i could move her, but it wouldn't be worth her stress and i don't know if she would have the attention that she needs. i just have to get through to the 17th of april (a non-rent payday.)

the vet student called twice today with the same news. rani is stable, eating and drinking. they are having problems getting her meds into her. she seems a little depressed. her sides are moving when she breathes and she gets very distressed when they take her out of her O2 cage.

*sigh*  I wonder if they'd let her have a sister in there with her ... it would help with the depression!

i am sad to announce that miss rani passed away this morning at 830 am. her little lungs couldn't take it anymore. little rani, my imperious one, kiss ms kara for me and say hello to miss rosie and miss lucyhoney for me. play hard at the bridge, my sweet rani. if love could have saved you then you would have lived forever.
