Yesterday my friend called me and asked if I wanted a rat. She said it's a female and that she was homeless. My friends brother had some kids that this female belonged to and they stopped caring for her. The father decided to show some mercy and get rid of her after she had turned into a bag of bones and suffered from living in digusting conditions for who knows how long.

After hearing all of this I knew I had to do something. I needed to save her, I wanted to save her. So I said I would pick her up. When I did I was horrified. Her change smelled horrible. She didn't look skinny, but then I held her and realized all her bones could be felt without even trying. I took her home quickly. Here are pictures of her cages makeover.

BEFORE

^I'm not sure what they where feeding her when they actually did, but the brown chunks are dog food my friend put in there so she would have something to eat...

^Litter that hasn't been changed in who knows when...

^Plastic in the cage...  BangHead

^More disgusting litter...

AFTER

^Nice clean food dish with good food, not to much though, I know feeding a starving animal to much food at once is bad...

^Clean Aspen litter with a cute igloo...

^Hammock, hanging toy, resting spots instead of just cold bars... (Note: This is the cage she came with, I will be upgrading once she is feeling better!)

And here is the beautiful girl herself! I named her Phoebe.  Heart

Heart Oh, she's beautiful!  You can almost tell by her eyes that she knows her luck has changed.  Good job, Twilight, for making the effort to save this precious girl.  Updates and pictures along the way, please! Heart

It kills me to know how clueless people really can be. You are a saint!         She is lucky to have you in her life, I can't wait to see how she does down the road.          belly kisses to the beautiful girl Kiss

Thanks everyone!  Blue Dumbo Smile

She is a sweet girl but shy and nervous. That doesn't bother me though. With some bonding and TLC she will come around. I can tell by her behavior that she wants that companionship.
