Ugh....my  little agouti hooded female decided to escape her cage and go visit the boys in their FN.  I had no idea she was even in there until I glanced over and saw her mating with my little boy Emile.  Ugh...I yelled and ran over there to grab her up but it was over before I even got to my FN.  As soon as I got there I looked and saw that Polly's "opening" was really open so that is never a good sign....And she has currently gained some weight.  We are expecting babies around April 19th.

Polly is an agouti hooded with standard ears and standard fur.  Emile is an agouti berk with dumbo ears and standard fur so we are expecting 100% agouti in standard ears with a slight chance of dumbo.

I did plan on talking to a couple of breeders I know on becoming a breeder in the near future but I didn't want to start like this!  This is completely unplanned and I take 100% responsibility for it.  Please help me adopt out these babies.  I did make a website to help with finding people to adopt the babies and to get practice because I might be a rattie breeder one day.  I do have an adoption application and a fee of $10 per rat so that I know these little guys and girls will go to a wonderful home.  I WILL NOT adopt out for feeders.

Yea Tricia I can't believe this happened!!  I feel horrible.  Polly is from Melissa (not bred by her but rescued by her) but Emile is not.  They will definietly be agouti and daddy is dumbo so there will be a chance for dumbo babies if Polly carried dumbo.  Just let me if you would want an agouti dumbo girl.  I will definietely put you on the list.  You will have first pick of the girls....I already have someone on the list for two little boys.  I'm going to do it on a first come first serve basis.

Yes Emile is the little guy that I rescued.  I will be completely honest in saying that he is a little shy....in a little shy I mean that he will run to the door when he sees you and especially when you open it, he loves to be held and will lay in your arms bruxing and boggling the whole time but, if you make any sudden movements he kinda runs away but will come back right away.  He loves licking and giving ANYBODY major kisses though.  He's not aggressive in any matter to anybody or any other rat.  He introd very well to every other rat that I introduced him to.  He's been healthy and even went to the vet for a clean bill of health. 

I adopted Polly thinking that she was a very shy girl....boy did she prove me wrong!  She is not only not shy but she knows her name!!  It's so funny.  When she's out running around all you have to do is call her name and she runs to you.  She also has never bitten or showed any aggression.  She absolutely loves my husband and kisses him to death!!

They are both very friendly and very healthy rats.  The babies are going to be extremely friendly and socialized ratty babies.  I will definietly put you on the "list" for a dumbo agouti girl.  Since Polly is hooded and Emile is berk I'm guessing some of the babies are goign to hooded and some berks....do you have a preference in markings or just the preference of ears?

Just wanted to note that Dumbo is a recessive trait, meaning each parent would have to express or carry the trait for it to show in the litter. Since mom is a Standard and dad's a Dumbo, the only way there would be Dumbo babies is if mom carries it. So, chances are this litter will all be Standards...unless mom is from known backgrounds and carries Dumbo, then you'd have 50% Standard, 50% Dumbo.

Hi i would like to seer if there is a female i could adopt. I am starting a young group since my older girls are a year old. I Have 2 younger girls that i would room her with and i am getting a female dumbo from Bluefrog this month. I would LOve to get a girl but that doesn't work out i could take a boy.

The babies will probably be standard ears but there is a slight chance for dumbo because we don't know background on Polly...she MIGHT carry dumbo.  At first I thought that Emile was an agouti self because you really don't see white but when you pick him up his belly is definitely white  .  Oh and thanks for the compliment on Emile...he really is a beautiful rat.  I will mark you down for a little girly that looks just like daddy and lets cross our fingers and hope that we have one!!  I can't wait for the babies to be born either!  She has gained another 2 grams in one day!!!

No, not yet.  The babies unfortunately aren't due until the 19th!!  I'm really excited too!!!!

Miss Polly is gaining more and more weight.  We are in day 11 of pregnancy and she's gained about 16 grams!!.  About 10 days or so to go!!!
