I have a female rat who is extremely verbal. She makes little squeaking noises anytime me or another rat touches her or if I even come near her. She's pretty tame though, she doesn't like to be picked up much but she'll come to me and likes to be on me.It's kinda cute. When you talk to her it's like she's talking back and answering.Anyone know why she's like this?I've never had a rat that made any noise really, except if they were hurt or something.Anyboby else have a "talker"?

There are definitely some rats that are talkers. As long as she is behaving normally and not in pain I would just keep on talking right back at her if she likes it so much Smiley

I have a young boy who is quite a talker.  Almost constantly.  He talks when he is eating and in his sleep.  It is really cute.

I had one that had three different kinds of tones.  He had the common squeak when he was hurt or scared.  He'd make little peeping noises when he was content, and he'd make a grumbling, grunting noise, when he was complaining.

I had ONE boy that was a talker, recent influx of young rats ALL seem to be talkers!  Walk in the room and all sorts of cheeps and chitters break out.  I swear the boys are trying to sweet talk the girls across the room!  Yellow Cute Laugh

Eros is pretty verbal. Constantly squeaking, but I think it is because he is a bit of a sook, and squeaks whenever something doesn't go his way so loud you would think he was being killed, lol. Took me awhile to figure out he wasn't actually being injured and that nothing was wrong, just that he is a bit of a loudmouth :p

We call our Dulce the drama queen, because everytime you even THINK about touching her she squeaks!  She like being handled and getting scritches, but for some reason she just lets out these little squeaks whenever you do it, even if she came over begging to have her head rubbed.  She's the same way with her sisters - if they even LOOK like their going to pin her for some forced grooming therapy she carries on like somebody's killing her.  She's hilarious!
