Today I traveled to the Toledo Humane Society and picked up 25 rats (8 adults, 17 babies) in danger of euthanasia.  The babies are all about 4 weeks old, and the adults range from approximately 3-6 months old (two males, six females).  The babies are all perky and in good shape - there are lots of hoodies/barebacks/cappeds in various colors (including mink, beige, black, agouti, and fawn).  The adults are a little the worse for wear - they came from two separate cruelty cases originally, and several have nasty abcesses that will need treatment.  I will have more information on them ASAP.  If anyone is interested in adopting, please email huronvalleyrats@gmail.com.  I may be able to arrange transport, so please don't hesitate to ask.  Pics coming soon.

I'm in the 'burbs outside Chicago, IL and interested in just one female. How close could we get a baby to the Chicago area?

Don't breed or buy while shelter animals die.

We could possibly set up a rattie train.  How far are you willing to drive?

Hrmm, I have a terrible sense of direction so I'd need to consult my husband, but I won't mind a couple of hours each way. I'm not sure how far you guys are.

I can certainly get as far as Kalamazoo, at the least. Smiley  Chicago is about 4 hours from me.

Well, when Blackthorn and I went to Wheaton, IL last year for the NIRO show, it took us around 5 hours or so.  If you're able to drive a couple hours, that's great and would help out a lot!

I'm going to have to get back to you as today at work I was startled to discover someone had left a female in with males. She's on pregnancy watch and if she's preggers, I may bring her home until the bubs are old enough.

Keep me in mind, I'll get back to you as soon as I can!
