Just bought this along with my 2 new baby male rats.  I plan on putting 1/2" chicken wire around the cage till they grow in size.  Any idea how long it takes for them to be full grow?

My males reach a big enough size to not fit through the bars of my Ferret Nation 142 at around 6-8 months.  I don't know if I'd use chicken wire to modify the cage.  Most people on the forum who have that cage use hardware cloth and there's even a tutorial stickied at the top of this section.

Don't breed or buy while shelter animals die.

6-8 months, really?  Shocked 2  Usually it's about 2-3 months old for my boys, and about 3-5 months old for my girls.

Me too Chelsey Smiley I think Liam and Noah went into the FN at 12 weeks-- they could stick their heads out- but had no desire to leave with all the buddies they had IN the cage Smiley

Mine spacing are as big as that cage.
Takes my girls 4-5 months and boys would be just nice at 3-4 months of age.
