I noticed that in the past month or so my brown hooded rat's fur has been losing colour. Would this be something natural or is it a sign that something may be wrong with her? I just lost one of my girls to a respiratory infection so I may be a little paranoid about the well being of the rest. Any reply would be appreciated

I'm not sure of any illness's that make fur lose color...the only thing I know of is Roan rats.  They're fur fades to white as they age.  I'm not sure how fast it happens though, or what age it starts at but that could be a possibility Smiley

How old is she?  My older guy, Riff, is a black hooded but the black seems to have faded a bit as he's gotten older.  So now it looks kind of like a dark grey color instead of black.

She should be hitting 1 year soon, if not already. The pet store I got her from were a little iffy on the details. Anyway, if she's not in any trouble than it's all good Cheesy Thanks for the replies
