Good luck to everyone here with all the litters.  If anyone needs my help please let me know.  I know most of you haven't met me but Lori has so she can be my reference.

I already talked to Topaz about this but, I will make it known here too.....If ANY of these litters produce a double rex female PLEASE send her my way (espeically if she's black, agouti or blue with dumbo ears)!!!!  Also I might be interested in a dumbo rex blue boy......they are hard to resist.

4 babies from Quinn, it looks like.  It is looking like this group just doesn't have large litters, (So far) word I got was that one of the other moms only had 3 bubs.  Hopefully we can get some kind of confirmation from the original owner/breeder, which will certainly ease my worrying mind.   Yellow Cute Laugh

No sign yet that Gabby is getting close, and while she has a belly, she's not really HUGE yet.  Quinn started doubling in size towards the last 3-4 days it seems, so we'll have to see if Gabby follows the same pattern.  Depending how that goes, maybe have her bubs in a week, otherwise a bit longer.

Also, I'll probably be able to transport some of mine to Iowa, at least to the western part.  I have family in Des Moines I've been meaning to visit, so if there are any interested parties near there I can probably work the timing out to coincide.  I can also distribute south of Rockford, especially the Dekalb and similar area.  I'd rather not go all the way south to Morris, but I've been there before, too, and it's somewhat feasible.

Well today I went and visited Ms. LoriV and came home with 3 baby rats so I am good on my rats for awhile.  I can't take anymore in.  Sorry guys.  I really didn't think I was going to be getting more from Lori.

I now have a gorgeous American blue high white blazed Berkshire dumbo rex doe (try saying that three times fast!) available. I believe she's also odd-eyed, with one ruby eye that's so dark it's hard to tell from black. She seems mellow although a touch shy, but because of her pregnancy, I did not handle her much. My camera is currently being repaired so I don't have pictures yet, but I assure you she is a stunner.

I can not stress enough that it is essential she go to a non-breeding home. She produced a very small litter, had no instinct to keep the bubs warm or fed, and finally the stress induced her to kill her offspring. Physically she appears fine, but I will be keeping a close eye on her for the next few days.

I also have a lovely high white agouti berk dumbo girl with three babies. All four will be available at the appropriate time. There is an agouti capped with headspot, an agouti split cap, and the world's most mouthwatering black variberk. These should also go to non-breeding homes. Mom has sorta kinda managed to figure out how to care for her offspring, but was pretty baffled by the squeakies (didn't seem stressed, just really confused and took quite a while to figure things out) and isn't the world's most attentive caregiver though she has improved with time. This picture was taken about a week before she gave birth:

There's also a third pregnant doe from this group at my house. She's getting chunkier by the day, but no bubs yet. Apparently her maternal instinct is so strong that in the past she has stolen other does' babies to raise as her own, and was used as a foster mom to a newborn mouse! Her last litter contained at least six, including the odd-eyed baby that Ratty Krazy just got from LoriV.

Secondhand word from the breeder is that these tiny litters we're seeing aren't normal. The bubs themselves seem healthy, just not many of them. I'm really hoping my final preggo girl proves to be the super mom she's been billed as.

Now, if that's not enough bubs for ya, I have a nice baker's dozen that turned two weeks old today who were born to the ultimate super mom! She had barely four days to settle in before giving birth, but she has been such a spookily perfect matron that she could star in a 1950's sitcom. Don't let her thumb-sucking habit fool ya - this one's a natural born mother:

These bubs have been extremely precocious, probably in part because mom's given them so much milk and attention. All are little kings and queens of the world - just ask them! I have reservations for a few (on a "first pick, second pick" basis - I prefer to let rats pick their people in realspace rather than have people pick rats in cyberspace) but there will be plenty more looking for homes when they're old enough.

Gabby had 2 stillborn babies tonight.  At least, I'll assume they were stillborn, because the one that I took out that was whole had no marks whatsoever on it's body, and she was attempting to clean it/get it to nurse.  Gabby herself isn't up for adoption- I'd already decided to give her a home and there's no reason to change that now.

Quinn's bubs have started to get some markings finally.  2 high white, 2 that are either self or berk, one with a blaze.  At least, that's what I'm assuming.  They all could be boys, or 1 could be a girl.  Once I have a better idea of colors/genders I'll start figuring out how I'll do adoptions.  (You know, assuming I don't fall in love with them and keep all 4. Roll Eyes )

So sorry to hear about Gabby's stillborns. She has the most vibrant personality of the entire group, even compared to the "baby thief" whom I adore, and babies out of her would have been really something. Give her a kiss for me, will you please?

Please remember to keep me in mind for a lovely lady.

Picking in real time sounds awesome.  Would especially love an agouti rex dumbo!

Hi! Smiley

I am looking to adopt a pair of baby dumbo ratties. We have had rats before and would love a pair of males this time, if possible.

Are there any babies currently available for adoption? We live in the Crystal Lake, IL area (northwest Chicago suburbs) and are willing to drive or meet halfway to pick up the babies.

Thank you! Smiley

We're expecting babies to be born by Wed.  Joon's belly got really big over the past couple days, but still has some expanding to do, IMO.

Here's the last pic of her before her belly blew up

Dragonfly23, all of the bubs in those photos have pert little top ears, but all three of the bubs in my other litter are dumbos, one of whom is a rex. Much too young to reliably sex, but hang in there .... There will be dumbos!

Joon gave birth sometime this morning or late last night.  Looks to be a hefty handful.  Hopefully tonight we'll have a male/female ratio as well as a dumbo/standard ratio.

Sooooo, any of those pretty fawn/beige hoods a boy?    Cheeky   What about the one with the adorable headspot?

Quinn's bubs are staying at the 2 male/ 2 female ratio.  2 girls - One that's either a beige or a blue self, and one that's.. well, who knows?  Blue and white, splotchy back, and she's getting a really mismarked mask.  The boys, one is a blue berk with an awesome blaze, the other is a beige (?) splotchy, but I can't tell if he has a mask or if he is blazed.  They're all doing great- the runt is small, but he's feisty, so I'm pretty sure he's going to make it.  The self girl, on the other hand, is MASSIVELY large.  Tongue  All are dumbo it seems, as well.

uh oh!  we're vying for the same baby!

They're all so adorable though.  For me it comes down to temperament/outgoing nature, but gosh... it'd be really awesome if the headspot bub was both a male AND a proper gentleman!  I may have to play my free cages card!  Yellow Cute Laugh
