Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the board.  First, I want to say thanks for all the great information that is available here in all the posts.  Unfortunately, my first post has to be in the adoption section.  My 10 year old son and I have two wonderful boys that we brought home about 6 weeks ago.  We're new to rats and we really enjoy their company.  However, the overall maintenance is more than we anticipated.  My son and I take care of them together, but proper cage cleaning is something that he can't do on his own.  We share daily clean-up duties, feeding, water, etc.  The biggest issue is that I sometimes travel for my job.  I haven't traveled since we got them, but I have some upcoming trips and I'm anticipating some difficulty keeping things maintained the way they need to be.

They are about 3-4 months old.  They started out in a 30 gal. aquarium, but after about two weeks, we purchased a Martin R-680 and that is their current home.  They're primary diet has been Reggie Rat and a daily helping of fruits and veggies.  One of them is tan and white (Lightning), and the other is gray with white paws and a white streak on his stomach (Paws).  Lightning is the bigger of the two and I think a little older.  He's a little more cautious than Paws, but will jump into the fun after Paws has checked things out.  They get daily free range time in a little city of boxes and tubes that my son and I built.  I've also made sure to socialize them as much as possible.

We've grown quite fond of them and I hate to make this post, but in the long run, it will be best for them.  Along with the adoption comes the cage and the accessories, bedding, etc. that I have on hand.  As I mentioned, the cage is a Martin R-680.  It has the powder-coating and the opening top.  I also just purchased a couple yards each of cotton felt and polyester fleece that I planned to use for the cage shelves.  It's a complete package.  Please PM if interested.

I sent you a PM, but I'm not sure if it went through. If it didn't, you can PM me or email me (my email is chibikirara@yahoo.com).
