Would this be the type of scale I would use to weigh my boys?

You can use any scale. If you want gram measurements you need a gram scale, otherwise use whatever.

I know -- the bowl! That's what made me like this one. I think I'm going to get it -- the price, even with shipping, actually looks better than what I'm seeing on other websites that carry kitchen stuff.
