My rats have really made sure my nails where clean as well as scratches>  I have more serious wounds now>  Covering with a blanket leaves them undeterred....

Think a cayanne pepper mix would deter them?  Have read it also has healing and pain relief benefits....

Ideas?

I don't really know where/the scope of your injuries, buuut, is it possible to put some sterile gauze on them, and wrap them in ace bandages?  You could do so while handling the rats, and it should keep them from getting access to the wounds.
