$123 for a FN 141 w/ free shipping...cheap? and more questions....

I am considering FINALLY getting an FN after cleaning my Rat Manor cage today and almost getting frustrated with it to the point that I almost kicked it across my yard. Trying to get the shelves back in after cleaning is so frustrating. Some days I will not be up to getting all worked up to the point of tears just to clean the rat cage, that I will let the cage be a day over-due for cleaning...and that is not acceptable.
I have gone through a Feisty Ferret cage, a Super Pet Exotics cage, and now a Rat Manor cage...in a year's amount of time. I sold the FF cage, but still have the SP Exotics and RM....so I have wasted $200 right now on two cages (that I can hopefully turn around and sell to make some money back)....when all along I should have jumped for the FN in the first place.
A little rant here/questions:
*I some what (
) have the money for the cage to throw on my credit card. I'll just have to pay it off over the next few weeks as the card is really for animal emergencies.
*My boys are 1.5 years old and almost 1 years old. Since losing Leonidas at 1.5 years old a few weeks ago, I am scared to buy yet ANOTHER cage and end up with such a large cage with only 1 or 2 rats if one of my babies was to pass on. I don't plan to get more rats so soon after they all pass on. I probably have nothing to worry about because I know they can definitely live much longer...but I worry. I guess I could have the cage in storage for later on when I would want more rats.
*How large is the 141, exactly...in comparison to, say....a soda can inside it (anyone have a picture)? I want to be sure that it doesn't take up a ton of room in the animal room...as the rabbit cages are so large as well (every one still needs a lot of floor space to play).
I guess I am scared to get another cage and regret it. I am also curious about the Critter Nation, but I don't want to deal with the Rat Manor for much longer...I am about to have a throw down with that stupid thing just to get back at it

I'm going to try to help you with the size comparison. This is the 142 cage of course.
Okay you can see the rat butt, so I guess you could say that's about the size of a soda can.

That pic has an igloo in the top. It's not the HUGE one, it's the medium sized one.
I hope that helps a little bit. And $123 seems a pretty good price but if you want to add on, the add on piece is $100. I know you can get the 2 level for $200, sometimes less so it depends on if you are planning to add on to the cage.

Pinkie, how tall are you (for comparison to the height of the cage)? That pic really helps get a sense for the size of the cage.
Also, fun lampshade! Very appropriate!

I don't have any size comparison pictures, but I have another method. Get a LARGE (I mean large) sheet of paper. (Well, maybe I'm the only one with paper this big.
) Then, get the dimensions and draw it on the paper. This will help get the base size. With your measurer, you can hold it to the proper height, giving you a better feel for how big it is.

Thanks, guys....this helped a lot and I think I will be finally buying this cage. I forgot we get 3 paychecks in July, so I can put this cage on my credit card and have it completely payed off by the end of July
.
I do not want to buy the FN 142 because I don't want to tempt myself into getting more rats than I can handle/afford. Four boys is the perfect number of ratties for me at a time. Right now I only have three boys because our Leonidas passed away in May.
I'm just nervous because what if the Critter Nation is AWESOME...then I have to turn around and sell another cage and get that...hehe.
Ah well, hopefully I can sell all the cages sitting in my garage right now. I have an AWESOME black power coated, 3 level, flip-top lid, 5" (high) cage out there that came to me with my foster rabbit. It is in excellent condition and build like a Martin's....but the doors are too small for my likes for hanging up a bunch of rat stuff in there.

Heehee, is it super resistant to any damage? (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)
Anyways, congratulations! I bet you'll be happy with the FN.

I figured out how to add more floor space to my animal room
....
I am going to move my elderly (8.5 years old) foster rabbit's cage from the floor, to up on top of another one of my rabbits cage, since I have to pick him up and remove him from his cage to play anyway...since he is blind. This free's up over 3ft (long) x 2ft (wide) of floor space....perfect for the FN to take that spot. So, I am now not losing any floor space, but gaining some
.
Now...the big thing...building up the guts to whip out my credit card and charge it

Have you tried posting a want ad on craigslist, freecycle, etc?
I posted a want ad yesterday on craigslist and got a reply in just a couple hrs of a FN142 for $70. Even though its used I;d much rather pay that much than $200 or so.
