how to prevent pee splashing

At the end of this week I'll be picking up 3 new babies. I'm starting to put together my old martin's cage. I'm not sure what model it is because I bought it 5 years. It's still in excellent condition so I plan on using it again. I'm trying to figure out a way to prevent pee from splashing. I've had the problem with all my rats but I'm trying my best to prevent it this time around. I'm going to try to litter train the new ones but I want to set up something on the cage just in case it's not successful. I'm thinking of putting something on the outside edges of the cage. Something going up and down to prevent it from splashing out. Any suggestions or ideas?

I've mostly pooptrained my little ratties, but pee training seems to be some totally unheard of concept for them. I've just gone the easy route of laying a nice big towel underneath my rat manor. It soaks up their messes and is easily washed.

My Martins cages get backed up onto a wall, which, on cage cleaning day, gets washed as well.  Others have used a shower curtain liner behind the cages.

Nothing's going to be foolproof.  One of the fosters let loose on the top level, hit his brother on the next level down, which redirected the stream at my daughter sitting next to the cage.  Fortunately, she was more amused than anything.
