I have 4 rats total, 2 are about 13 months old, who I've had for about 11 months, and the other 2 are about 4 months old who I've had for about two and a half months. It seems like the newest two are hitting "puberty." One of them, Hue, has always been very dominant. He even pins down and grooms the older one who used to be my dominant rattie. It used to be cute seeing this little guy try to pin the older guys, but now it's getting pretty upsetting. He's starting to draw blood. There's a wound on my other newer baby, Hex, that was bleeding when I took them out for play time. As soon as I set them in the play area, Hue ran up and started mounting/humping Hex. I also noticed little scabs on Pica, who used to be the dominant rat, which look exactly like when he had mites about 6 months ago. So I treated everyone with Revolution about 2 days ago. But now I wonder if it wasn't mites and Hue is grooming him excessively, because around some of the scabs he's missing some fur. I think I need to get Hue neutered. None of the other boys act like this and are quite calm. Hue is fine with me though. He's really cuddly and sweet. And most of the time he's nice to the other boys, cuddling in hammocks together and everything. I don't know when I can get him in to get neutered though. On my day off this week I'm getting my wisdom teeth out. Should I isolate Hue from the other boys in a different cage?? I know they love each other's company, but I don't want any one getting hurt any more. Sad What should I do?  Huh

Since most of the time he's nice, I don't think I'd isolate him from the other rats.  But I would really strongly suggest getting an appointment set up right away to get him neutered.

that is how it starts. AT one point i had to have all 3 of my males in 3 cages alone because they were just too aggressive when they had been fine together for over 10 months. Everyone was neutered and lived happly ever after

Thanks for the advice. He's still in with the others for now, but I'm keeping an eye on him. I'm going to try to get him into the vet asap.
