This is about one of my mom's rats.  She has almost white teeth.  She eats the same food as the others and the others look great.  They were on Mazuri, (she recently switched to Avoderm instead) and a mix very similar to Suebee's.  Other than being discolored, her teeth look okay, at least to me.  They're not overgrown, but they are definitely a white color.  This is my mom's pride and joy and her first dumbo, (which she's wanted since the first picture she ever saw of one).  Is this something we should be seriously concerned about?

How long have they been like that?  If it's been a while, I don't think I'd worry to much.  If you need to, feel free to contact Debbie Ducommun thru http://www.ratfanclub.org,  her emai is ratlady@ratfanclub.org

Others here can probably help out more than me.  Sorry I can't be of more help, but I've not dealt with white teeth in my ratties.

I think it might be a sign she isn't getting enough calcium. Maybe grind up a calcium supplement or two and sprinkle it throughout the mix?

I have a rat with completely white teeth.

He's a rescue with some odd hormonal issues ... he never grew as big as his brother, has fur that is like a female and smells like grape soda instead of corn chips.

His teeth a totally white but otherwise normally shaped and fully functional. At first the vet  thought it might be a nutritional issue from before he was surrendered but it never went away despite being on Harlan and Missing Link and fresh fruits and veggies. He's over two years old now and it hasn't stopped him or hindered him in any way ... it's just odd looking.

I'll try to get a picture when he's not sleeping.

My mom's is a girl, but is very small.  My mother lives in the apartment below mine, so we get together a lot.  We also use the same food for our rats and split the cost of all the stuff, so I know she's getting the same food as what mine get.  Unless there's something wrong in her system, it really shouldn't be a vitamin deficiency.  If it is, I'm sure she wouldn't mind adding some kind of supplement.
