there is a cage that i might be getting but i'm not sure about it

this is a picture of it:
http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=22efd6f292&view=att&th=11cdca7b7e36aa93&attid=0.1&disp=inline

i think the bar spacing might be too big

if i do get it i would probably build a divider in the middle so that i could have my boys and girls in it (it is 6 feet tall)

what do you guys think about it>??

It would be a good cage for males, but I think the bar spacing is too large for females.

Full grown males would most likely be ok in that cage, but if you cover it with hardware cloth, it would be fine for any rat.   However, I seriously wonder about that top ramp!  That seriously isn't supposed to be used at that incline, is it?  Yellow Cute Laugh Yellow Cute Laugh Yellow Cute Laugh  I can see lowering that whole shelf/level/floor and adding at least one more above it.

Maybe you could swap out the ladders for wooden bird ladders? They come in longer sizes, making them less steep and fun things for them to chew. Looks like a nice cage.   I'm sure you could mod it with hardware cloth to make sure girls couldn't escape!

yeah the guy just put it together real quick so he could take a picture of it for me, the shelves are also 3 pieces each, so a total of 9 levels could be arranged, i think it would be an amazing cage, and only 100 bucks, but i don't know if we're going to get it... Sad

I have this cage in storage waiting until my youngest is big enough to not be able to fit thru the bars. I'm definetly hoping I can start using it by Thanksgiving. Whe I first had the opportunity to buy it, I posted here asking for opinions Many people think it is a pain to clean. You can read their opinions here:
http://www.goosemoose.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,118/forum,rat/topic,4041752.msg4425321/,#msg4425321

I also did some research on the cage on other websites and found that the clips that usually hold the cage together can break easily. Many people recommend ordering extras for just in case from the cage supplier or just ziptieing the cage together instead of having to worry about broken clips. Oh, and the legs that the cage stands on aren't very sturdy. Many people recommended welding braces on them if you wanted to use the legs, or finding something else to put the cage on. I can attest to this fact; I tried to wheel the cage across my living room and I honestly thought the legs would snap off. I don't plan on using the legs when I start using the cage.

I haven't started using the cage yet, but I do like the option of being able to rearrange the shelves ahnd having as many or as few levels as I want. I haven't seen the cage recently, but I believe the front of the cage has 2 large doors, one at the bottom and one at the top, and 2 smaller ones on each side.

also be forewarned those shelves get nasty REAL easy :/ i'm considering taking mine out and replacing them with wire with fleece because i'm sick of having to wipe them down every day ><
