One of my new boy ratties has tears from his right eye. The lady I adopted him from said that he has had it since birth, his brother is perfectly fine and all of her ratties seemed fine. He has no sneezing, or any other signs of illness, besides he likes to stay in his hammock, but he comes out to eat drink and play. I was wondering if this should be of any major concern and should he see a vet. Thnaks so much.

It sure wouldn't hurt to have him checked out by a vet. But if there are no other signs of illness or injury, it may just be how his eye is. It could also be allergies. It's hard to say.

I guess it could be an allergy as it seems to not be as bad since I adopted him. I use a different bedding. I think she may have used aspen? I use the Kaytee super absorbent stuff that comes in a big bag. He eats very well. No sneezes, I think Im going to give him a couple of days and if it doesnt get better than take him to the vet. Thanks so much.
