Aww, what a cutie! ^_^ I thought my Himi was a PEW until one day I thought her nose looked darker.. and then spent a few days staring at it trying to decide if it was just the light or if I was just imagining it  Roll Eyes

So pretty! He looks rather friendly ~ like a snuggle bug. I'm new to the forum and rats and have a question; Do rats grow in different fur colors as they grow up? I have 3 baby girl rats and they all had some color when I first got them at about 7-8 weeks old, but one of the girls has developed this lovely light pinksih brown cape down her back now and it seems to be getting more striking and darker. Just wondering if it takes time for their adult coats to grow in is all. Smiley Your rat really is very lovely! Hope to see more of him later on the forums!

haha thanks...he is really friendly because i handled him from when he was a pinkie.  He will just sit on his back in your hand and clean himself.  I have heard of coloring like his coming in around 7 weeks and he is 6 and a half so thats about right.  As far as other colors, they can have a tendency to change as the rat matures.  Only a few (like roan i think?) continue to change as the rat ages. (they fade)  You never really know until they're full grown...like little surprises!

The baby Himi I raised from the time he was a pinky until he was weaned and adopted, has a tail spot and a light colored spot on his back.  That faded and after he went home his points came in!
