An update on the mother rattie Blackie:  Blackie had an e-spay today and the doctors found that she was having bleeding due to trauma to her uterus from the babies.  She came out of surgery well and will come home tomorrow.  She will be available after she has healed up and finished her round of antibiotics, so if anyone is interested in a spayed female, now is your chance! Her baby girls will still be ready on the 31st.

Bumpdate!

November, our hairless adult girl, is itching for a new home!  She has mastered her social skills with a complete end to any and all cage aggression!  I can even stick my fingers through the bars and all she does is lick me!  She loves to brux while I pet her and *loves* playtime.  She still gets hesitant when you pick her up, but I find some rats are just like that.  Please consider giving her a home!

Blackie's surgery and healing have gone very well.  She now lets me pet her in the cage and does *okay* outside of the cage.  She would love to settled down with an experienced owner and a few boys.   Smiley

Another update!  I will be moving at the end of the month (came up unexpectedly) and I would like to see my four foster girls either into permanent homes or another foster home.  Of course, they can always return to the rescue, but I would rather they get into a loving home!  The two baby girls and Blackie get their re-checks on Thursday and hopefully a clean bill of health as well!  Please let me know if you would like to come meet these girls!

UPDATE:  Blackie will be staying with us.  I don't want to part her from her son (who I had already adopted) as she has become very attached to him.  She is coming along well with her socialization, but she still has a ways to go, so she is best off staying here!

Blackie will be staying with us!   Grin  The girls "passed" their vet checks and will be off meds in 3-5 days.  That means they are ready for new homes next week!  November is ready for a new home right now!  Please let me know if you want to adopt any of these girls because they will be returning to the rescue very soon.

Update: November has found a new home with someone right here from Rats Rule. Hopefully she will give us an update, hint, hint Wink

Foxy and Racy are the only ones of Colie's fosters still up for adoption and they are located with me. I want to find them an experienced ratty home ASAP so they do not bond with someone and then get rehomed again since they have trust issues already. They are both shy and timid, but not aggressive in any way, shape or form. They do hand feed, it takes them a bit to accept the food, but they will take it. Please, if you have experince with working with ratties and can find it in your heart to adopt them, I would really like to get them a home quickly

Lol, taking the hint - November is fitting in wonderfully with our hairless single guy, Newt.  Today she groomed him for the first time during intros and he meeped the whole time - so she nipped his face on the way by when she was done with him just for good measure!  I predict another week or so before they get their newlywed apartment, then another few weeks before her spay.  They are so cute together!  I'll post pics as soon as I get some good ones of them together and/or when she stays still long enough for the camera...thanks so much for making her available to us, Newt's been alone a long time and she's just perfect for him!

Foxy and Racy are now living with a new foster in Elgin. I am hoping they will be able to be socialized enough to be able to be adopted in a couple of months. Although they have made absolutely wonderful progress with Colie, they still have alot of trust issues and once coming to the rescue backside due to their trust issues, thankfully though, not back to square one. Our new foster will be having a few ppl work with them, instead of just one or 2, so they can learn that they can trust more humans than just one or 2, which they had learned. This is the unfortunate results of ZERO human contact within the first 4 weeks of life. If you plan to breed, or have an accidental litter, the best thing you can do for those babies, and I can not stress this enough, is to hold them and play with them. If you take on the responsibility of a rat and find out that she is pregnant, those babies are your responsibility as well. Foxy and Racy, along with their 5 brothers, were half starved, weaned too early, no human contact and tiny when surrendered to us.

This is a picture of one of the babies in comparision to a normal baby

On the left, you will find one of Mercy's Babies at 4 weeks old.                                 On the right, you will find a normal 3 week, 4 day old baby, one of my own.

Same tub, exact same size picture. I made sure when making this comparision that I had the exact same size pics so you can see the rough start they had.If you are an experinced ratty owner, preferrably a breeder and would be willing to take on one or more of MErcy's babies, boys or girls, please let me know either by PMing me or by posting here.
