(Starting a new thread, because the old one was getting really long and a bit confusing.)

Huron Valley Rat Rescue in Ypsilanti, MI has many lovely spayed and neutered ratties currently available for adoption!  All rats who aren't spayed/neutered yet, will be soon (age/size permitting).  Adoption fee is $20/rat (rats too young for spay/neuter are $10).

Transport is frequently available to Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Lansing, Toledo... occasionally Marquette, Traverse City, Fort Wayne, and a few other areas.  I may be able to arrange transport depending on your location, so don't hesitate to ask.  Email huronvalleyrats@gmail.com for more info.  Thanks!

List of ratties:  (most are on Petfinder w/pics - site is:  http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/MI553.html)

Zippo - M/N - approx 4 mos, black berkshire (zipper berk, very thin berk line)  Friendly and sweet, very active and curious little guy.  Living with Spencer, Kojak, and Dolce.

Spencer - M/N - approx 4 mos, black berkshire w/headspot.  Adoption return - he didn't do well in quarantine by himself, supposedly, but has been fine since he was returned and I've experienced nothing but a happy, friendly, hyper little boy.  Living with Zippo, Kojak, and Dolce.

Kojak - M/N - approx 3 mos, pearl hairless.  Nice boy, a little tentative.  Living with Zippo, Spencer, and Dolce.  Must be adopted with at least one of them.

Dolce - F/S - approx 5-7 months, Siamese.  Was a fear biter, is now sweet and playful, though easily startled.  Should probably go to an experienced home without kids due to her past history.  Living with the boys above.

Ruby - F/S, Russian blue Irish, around a year (nice girl, very curious, sweet, a bit nervous when first picked up but pretty friendly... has hare-lip from old, healed injury)
Pearl - F/S, Siamese, around a year (nice girl, very sweet, likes to nibble/taste test fingers softly)

Daisy - F/S - black berkshire, estimated 1.5-2 years (was treated for URI, very sweet)

Lady Godiva - F/S - hairless, 1 year (has minor eye issues, may have impaired sight, had a small mammary tumor removed 7/7)  Very friendly and sweet, wonderful girl
Sunny - F/S - beige berkshire, 1 year  Very friendly and sweet, wonderful girl
(these two must be adopted together)

Cora - F/S - black berkshire dumbo, slightly over a year

Spinnaker - M/N - beige hooded w/half tail, 1.5 years

Patterson - M/N - blue cap-stripe, 1.5 years

(these three must be adopted together)

Akira and Yuki - M/N - PEWs, 2 years old (must be adopted together)

Hey Blackthorn,

I'm interested in Fluffa and possibly Stuart. I have a rat a male rat here who just lost his pal and seems very lonely. Any plans to go to Fort Wayne soon so we can meet half way? (I'm in Indy)

I just picked up Himi daughter tonight and she'll be in my home for her quarantine awaiting the birth of her babies.  Smiley  She's extremely nice and very pretty.  Looks like we have less than a week's wait for the babies.  Hope for a small litter.

My boyfriend is going to Ft. Wayne on the weekend of June 6th and 7th (Saturday and Sunday). That's soon but if anyone is interested in a rat train we can try to transport more to the Indy area...

And Sigmund is lonely. Poor guy is pretty depressed to loose his friend. He just got over pneumonia as well poor thing.

M/N - 9-10 weeks, Himalayan  A little shy at first, but sweet

Could you tell me a little more about this one's personality? Does he enjoy sitting in laps or on shoulders? That's what I'm mainly hoping for--a rat that will love to cuddle up on me while also being a companion for my current rat.

No, he's a baby, and like most babies, very active and energetic, not so much cuddly/snuggly right now.  He wants to explore.  He's more nervous than his brothers, but coming around fine.

Well I meant the baby equivalent, hehe. Of course they're gonna be all energetic, I do understand that, but even young some rats are happier to come and sit down for just a short while. But oh well, thanks anyway, he sounds adorable but if he doesn't seem particularly snuggly I'm going to try to find one that does. I will keep all your little ones in mind though, especially him and his siblings. Smiley

The eeper count tonight is 15!  Yikes, that's a lot of babies!

Lily is a total sweetheart too and will be very adoptable once the babies are weaned.

Edited to change baby total to 15.  I somehow missed one in the first count.

I am now taking reservations for Lily and Prairie's babies.  People who are genuinely interested should email me at huronvalleyrats@gmail.comLocal and local-ish adopters and/or adopters willing to arrange their own transport will take precedence/priority at this time.  Otherwise, it's pretty much "first come, first served" to approved, qualified adopters.  Boys should be able to be neutered before adoption, girls will be too small for spays but may, if adopters wish, be brought back when old enough for spays.

Any questions, please email me.

Any chances of anyone setting up a ratty train towards Milwaukee or Chicago area in the next month or two?  I'm interested in two of Lily's rittens.  They need to be neutered first, so it'll be a few weeks yet.   Hopefully someone can get the boys somewhere closer where I could meet you.

It's *possible* I may be able to arrange transport to Chicago.  I can certainly get to Kalamazoo.  Perhaps someone might be willing to help out, too.  Since it's so tentative, I can't put babies on hold, but I'm pretty sure some will still be available should we be able to work out transport.  Smiley

If brrrbrrr is willing to meet me on her way back to Chicago on the 11th, we'll have transport.  Since it's relatively far off, I can't put the babies on hold, but I will keep the voiced interest in mind, and if they're still available by then...   Grin

So far, Ice is interested in the R. blue Dalmatian girl, xandria24 is interested in momma Lily and her Siamese dumbo baby boy, Daisyroo in Muskego, WI is interested in the blazed black berkshire boy and possum-faced Am. blue Dalmatian boy (I do have someone interested in him locally, but not for certain yet).  Xandria24 is in Decatur, IL, willing to pick-up in Chicago, so that opens up some transport possibilities as well.

I also took in a large group of rats on death row at a Livingston shelter, so they will be available eventually.  HVRR is officially over-full and not taking in any more rats now.   Undecided

All my fosters are quarantined off site before coming to my house, so I'm clean.  ^^

Hi everyone! I'd like to help out with the rattie train if I can. I live in Binghamton, NY, a couple hours south of Utica. I would be able to pick up ratties in Utica sometime between August 4-6 while brrrbrrrr is there, and bring them back to Binghamton (with dropoffs along the way if needed). I am located just an hour north of Scranton PA, about three hours north of Philly. That might make it easier for some folks to drive up for rats!

I currently have no rats, but am adopting two baby boys in early September. I will have a Martin's R-695 set up & ready by the end of July!

Just out of curiosity, is there a single spayed girl (less than a year old) available who might get along with two young rat boys? Smiley She'd have to be friendly already- I am not good at taming nervous ratties.

I'm up for it providing people adopt.  It is just a question of putting the offer out there and letting people choose whether to take advantage of it or not.
