Ages on some are estimates because they were petshop rats, so I start count the day I got them; you can probably add a month or two to most ages.
Squeakers -- 2 months; cause of death unknown, assumed at the time to be bloat/impaction from eating her bedding
Athena -- 21 months; euthanasia following respiratory infection
Velvet -- 33 months; found dead in her cage one morning, cause of death unknown
Lily -- 30 months; mammary tumors
Echo -- 32 months; mammary tumors

Adonis - 3.5 years
He died of what we believed to be a stroke.
my other two rats are still under a year old, but they're on the healthy side.

Orrie - 37 weeks, tumor. (Petsmart)
Remy - 2 months, respiratory problems. (Petsmart)
Ria- 2 months, respiratory problems. (Effingham Petstore)
The Ironic thing was, I got Orrie by himself, and they weren't suppose to sell him to me, because he was still in quarantine. A couple months later I felt bad for not getting him a friend, so I got him Remy at the same Petsmart, Remy was out of quarantine and deemed healthy.

Freud: (an adoption from Petco) approximately 4.5 years.
My general idea is that he passed from severe old age.

There seems to be a lot of brain issues. I'm curious anyone that had a rat die due to brain issues, what kind of environment did it have?

fraggitall, I should have known better. We lost Dante today.
Dante - intact male, black hooded standard, roughly 31 months, unknown cause - no signs of illness, frailty, or distress and not a mark on him. It looked like he passed peacefully. He came from a feeder bin originally.

{Still living, but old age is taking a toll.)
Oliver - 3 years, 4 and a half months.
He's a pet store rat. My first, to be exact. I love him to death.
I know his death is coming though. A few trips to the vet and nothing but old age ails him.
Now he only likes to sit curled up in my blanket when I'm home.
Poor thing. Had to add a heat pad to his cage for him to stay warm.
God bless his soul.

here are all my girls that have passed-
Ages are approximate, but only could be + - 2 or 3 months
Willow- 20 months- unknown cause
Houdini- (probably willow's sister) 23 months, she was being treated for what seemed like a mild respiratory infection.
Shinqua- 26 months, PTS due to advanced PT (probably Houdini and willow's sister)
Tara- 32 months, abscessed inoperable tumor (2nd tumor of her life the first was removed at around 20 months), severe heart disease
We have no idea where these girls came from, they were rescues who had been surrendered from someone who got them on craigslist from a person who got them on craigslist.
My last loss, a pet store girl-
Suzy- 9 weeks, unknown cause
