Scully: almost exactly 18 months, of pneumonia.
Hickey: 24 1/2 month, of mammary tumors. She weakened in the last couple of days, and I slept on the couch with her (when I slept at all). She bruxed and boggled her eyes till the end, especially when I was most upset. (It was almost impossible to get any liquid into her, as she would brux and boggle gratefully after every couple of warm drops.) She was having difficulty breathing the last night, so I sat up and propped her on my chest so she could breathe more easily. She bruxed quietly for a bit and died sometime in the following hour. She was a sweetheart.

Ratatoullie -M- about 18 mo. Resp illness (pts)
Freya -F- 12 months - possible heart condition. Ran up to the door, jumped on my shirt, and died in my hands
Plato -M- 26 mo. unknown internal illness, died at home in my arms
Simba -M- about 28 mo Resp. distress (pts)
Maki -F- around 40 months died in my arms from old age
Luna -F- around 40 months eaten up with cancer in her back (pts)
Baby -F- abouT 38 months (will be pts within the week) has lost use of back legs, and has tumors and resp illness
Kissie Py -M- about 28 months (will be pts within the week) Resp distress and two abdom tumors. Cannot operate due to resp problems.
(all rats were from reputable breeders)
I have gone through 11 tumor removals in the past 4 years, and tons and tons of baytril, doxy, Zithromax, etc... It seems like their lives are just too short not to do all I can because of all the
love
they give

Sqeak <4m Petco sold him to me with a respiratory infection. His brother Pip lived most of his life fighting the infection. I don't buy animals from Petco anymore...
Pip ~24m micoplasma infection
Sterling ~24m appeared to be instestinal blockage
Oreo ~24m no cause other than age
They were all petstore babies so I don't know birthdays for exactness.

My recent group of rats 2002-2006:
Amadeus(male)-adopted- 18 months- natural causes
Gally(female)-20 months- stroke and euthanasia
Starfish (male&brother of Gally)- 23months-phenomena/inner ear infection (possibly tumor but undiagnosed)
Lain (female)- 32 months- history of mammary tumors- 3rd tumor was cancerous and was euthanize
Lain is the oldest rat I've owned so far...
The rats in the past has never made it to 18 months
