I'm a llama!

« on: April 13, 2003, 02:33:42 PM »

Hi! I haven't been around this board much but I used to post quite a bit on the old board.  I am an adopt counselor at the humane society and we have recently received a rat that is suffering from severe isolation and neglect.  We will probably not be able to find a home for him as he need some serious socialization and love. (I'm not sure of the sex, because everytime you stick your hand in his cage he starts screaming and running around.)  I don't know if any of you are willing to take a chance on this rattie, it's not something to be entered into lightly. This rat was left alone for almost 3 weeks and we have no idea whether or not s/he was socialized at all before that.  S/he is fairly young, probably 5 or 6 months old, hooded fancy.

Please let me know if you are interested.
We are located in East central Illinois.

Hi-
Where exactly are you located? I am near Chicago and would be interested in working with this rat.

I am in Rantoul, IL.  I'd be more than willing to meet you somewhere in between here and there!

maybe near kankakee or even a little farther north. I just don't like to drive in Chicago.

Hi-
I am in Tinley Park, which is about 45 mins from Chicago. You are around 1 hour and 45 mins from me. I am not sure if I would be able to meet anywhere. I am 15, so I do not drive. Yes, I already checked with my mom to see if I can work with this rat. I operate a rat rescue and I am featured in the pet magazine Chicagoland Tails in the current issue. So this rat would be in the best of hands. I have had experience working with difficult, abused, and agressice rats. One of my current rats was abusided and now she is the sweetest thing. I would be willling to work with it until it can be adopted out.

Really?  That would be great.  Although if worse comes to worse, I could drive the whole way.  I just don't like to be gone from my foster animals very long.  What's the name of the yahoo group?

On the other note, I'm sure this rattie will be in good hands.  Let me check with the Humane Society to find out when this rat will be able to be sent home.

The rattie has been cleared to leave the humane society.  This is really a blessing that you can take him/her.
I thought s/he was making a little progress but today s/he bit me.  Sad  Fortunately it wasn't too bad.  I'm going to hook up with the  yahoo group and then we can work something out.

OK sounds good. My first rat was a biter and with in a week she stopped teying to bite everything. This rat should do very good and after it is fostered, we can look for a home for him.

I posted on the yahoo rattransport board but I haven't heard anything.  If I don't hear soon, I'll just figure out a way to bring him on my own.
Possible on this Tuesday or next?  Does that work for you?

No problem!  What time on Thursday?  I'm off the whole day but I don't like to leave before 11 but I can if I have to.

When do you have to leave for your game?
