I checked out the ratties at the AHS. I was so impressed; big, clean cages, the room was well ventilated... very nice. I held and scritched one boy. He was just so sweet! Black with a little white on his belly, 3-6 months. "Appeared" healthy (nothing obvious, no audible respiratory problems or porphyrin stains on the nose). One of the best parts is he's in his own awesome cage worth about $100. Someone obviously cared about him at some time. Just thought I'd mention it. Would be a great oppurtunity perhaps for someone just looking into rats that doesn't have all the existing "equipment." Hope it wasn't inappropriate to post this.

And NO, I'm not taking any more boys, so don't suggest it! I did leave money, tho.

Sunnyslope location of AZ Humane Society, 13th Ave and Hatcher (closed Mondays).

This little cutie is still there. Sad He was shy but curious this time, but he let me reach in and grab him. Then I got in trouble for taking him out of the cage. Embarrassed I gave him a yogurt drop when the guy left and of course he had to go back in his cage for that. I checked out the other ratties, and then when I looked at him again he was clinging to the door with all fours! Yellow Cute Laugh Hey! Gimme another one of those things! He came right out this time and gladly accepted another one. His name is Ben and he's still a young'un. Such a good pet for someone!

Balloon Yay! The little guy was adopted. I hope he's very happy in his new home. There's another black berk that is almost his twin that's still there (he's very cool as well, about 6 months old), a little black hooded girl about 4-6 weeks and an adult black hooded guy that didn't bite but did not want to be held... poor guy, I don't think anyone will want him. He probably just needs Kiss Cookie Heart.
