Yep, it's fab - except my 'rating' seems to have dropped in the process.

Most upset.... need some strawberry yogies to cheer me up... (*raids box*)

I noticed the yogies, they're grrrrreat!!
I have never eaten one, though per prior posts
many have and have liked them.

I wonder if there is a system to the color-coded ness
of the yogie system.

They are kinda like a little 'rating' system I guess. The more you post, the more the rate goes up, and the more yogies you get!  Smiley

"Yogies" is a pet term for Yogurt Drops, very yummy treats for our furry friends. Smiley

I must admit--I had to try a cheese flavored one.  I figured that if it was good enough for them that it certainly wouldn't hurt me.  It tasted only very vaguely like cheese and mostly like sugar, so I decided that they are a treat to be given sparingly.

Here's a link to PetsMart's Yogie page:

Yogies!

As for the ratings themselves, yes, I raised the requirements a little. It seemed odd to me that we had senior members already in the first two weeks, so I altered the numbers a little bit.

I have to admit, it was also partially -because- of the complaints. Every time someone complains, the numbers go up. I'm mean like that! Grin

Yes.  There are two major brands of "yogies".  One is by Vitakraft, and they have rather large drops for guinea pigs and hamsters.  If you go for those, get the ones for hamsters.  Guinea pigs have added Vitamin C, which rats don't need.  It won't hurt them, but it isn't necessary in their diet.  There is another brand, by a company called 8-in-1.  They make drops for ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc.  I buy the 8-in-1 for ferrets because they're smaller (the size of a chocolate chip), so you get more yogies for your money.  They're mostly sugar, so it is important to not overdo them.  My boys get 2 a day.  Smiley

oooh so thats what they are! LOL I hadn't noticed I just thought they were triangles. Umm I buy the Vitacraft Yougurt drops for rabbits. They come in carrot, wildberry, & yougurt flavor. I can't seem to find the other flavors. I also haven't seen the 8-in-1's at our petsmart. they only have vitacraft & Kaytee's Drops ( I checked and Kaytee's has exthoxiquin in them of course, so thats a no-no)

For some reason, Petsmart stopped carrying Yogies. Mine doesn't have them, either. I refuse to shop in Petco, so when we run out of Yogies, my husband goes and gets them.

That said, the new boys don't seem to lik Yogies at all! So when Rimmer leaves us, I don't think I will need to buy them, anymore...

« Reply #21 on: April 29, 2002, 09:46:56 AM »

8-in-1 makes yogies for rats, too.

I have found that the yogies my rat prefers most are the Strawberry-flavored 8-in-1's for rats (she will also eat the ones for guinea pigs & rabbits).

I also prefer these yogurt drops.  I try almost everything I give to my rats, and these seem to have less sugar than the vitakraft ones, or the yogurt drops I was using previously (I don't remember which brand).

P.S.  She does not seem to like the ferret treats very much.  She especially hates "banana raisin" (which I found strange because she loves both bananas & raisins).

If it is legal, I am willing to send you some (in sealed containers, of course - not ones my rat has touched).  Send me an email & we will discuss it.
