but boy did they make a mess!!  Smiley

Intros have been going pretty well, so I thought I would see how they all handled having GOOD treats around each other.  So each rat got an unshelled peanut during playtime today.  And they were all very good about just going off to their own little area of the counter and munching away like crazy.  They are so cute.  But I now have peanut shells all over the kitchen counter.

Too bad you have to watch the number of peanuts they get.  They love them so much.  and they are so much fun to watch them eat.

I break the peanuts in half and give them each a portion. I love how they reach their little hands out and snatch them and then rush away to eat them. Very impolite, but so cute. And yeah, I've got shells all over too.

Never fails to make me laugh! Cheesy

my boys absolutely love biting into and breaking up unshelled peanuts - but once they get inside they don't actually like the peanuts.

But..... they still keep shelling them as quickly as I give them to them.  Strange boys ...... Undecided

I try to watch it because of the fat and protien contents of nuts.  But I don't know how much is too much.

maybe the best thing would be to feed them in the same way you would yogies, just as a treat (mmm, cos all our rats only get one yogie a day, right?! ?!  Grin)
