I recieved this through an email list I'm on, and I'm crossposting it here. I hope these poor ratties find good homes...I'm afraid that I can't take on any more right now.

Please crosspost as appropriate

Calling ALL rat lovers!

The Humane Society of Silicon Valley (formerly known as the Humane
Society of Santa Clara Valley) has just notified us that they had a
single-person dump of 70 pet RATS. Their facility is not set up for a
dump of this magnitude and they have asked us to help in any way we
can. Unfortunately, Rattie Ratz is very full at the moment with over
100 rats of our own but we have agreed to go down there this afternoon
and assess the situation.

If anyone else can help, either today, or in the near future (next
couple of days), please email rescue@rattieratz.com. These rats are not
available for adoption yet so do not bother going to the humane society
to adopt. If you want to adopt you can let us know and we will contact
you when they are cleared to go. The HSSV will euthanize the animals
that cannot be placed soon because they do not have room to accomodate
them.

Please contact me if you have any questions. Please do not bombard the
humane society with questions.

Thanks for listening!!

as an update-
"Hi All,

Linda and I just got back from the HSSV. They had 70 rats who were all
dropped off at 2am today from one man who did not leave any
information. The techs at the HSSV think that these rats were being
bred as feeders for snakes because there was shed snake skin in some of
the cages. There were babies through juveniles. The youngest, we think
is about 4 weeks old and the oldest are probably just hitting puberty,
6 or so months maybe.

We went there thinking that we would only take in the baby girls but
ended up leaving with a total of 50 rats. We took all of the females
and the baby boys. We left 20 males, most of which were older juveniles
and had been/were fighting.

The rats that are still there have 5 days before their time is up.
Today is day #1 so Saturday is their last day.

Linda is coming back tonight so that we can go through them and get
them into some better cages than what we borrowed from the HSSV. I am
also planning to return there tommorrow or Thursday to check in on the
remaining rats and to give them some cages.

Needless to say, we are now busting at the seams (to say the least)
with rats available for adoption. Our next adoption fair is Saturday
May 17, 2003 from 11-4pm at For other Living Things in Sunnyvale. We'll
be bringing the babies to that event so, any help with regard to
getting the word out to local adopters would be great. We are willing
to drive within a 3 or so hour radius of Mountain View to place animals.

Thanks,
Diane"

If those 20 males don't find homes I'm willing to add them to the MP rescue train, but I need to know what's going on with the MP rats first, and I need to find out if I can get homes for 20 older males.

Hi!

I'm up in Tracy California, but will be down on Saturday to look at the babies. Now that Claritin is available over the counter YAY it's time to get a rat.

Anna you are just amazing to say the least. I'll ask Fenella if she has room for some more rats. We maybe able to get some of them down to San Diego for adoption and at least they will be with another amazing person. Let's keep our fingers crossed X.

Hello! I'd love to adopt some! Unfortunately, I can only adopt one or two as friends to my dear goodrat Alice. Best of luck with all of them... when you said they're last day was Saturday, did you mean yesterday?  Undecided I wasn't sure. I live in Berkeley, and I doubt my parents would drive me as far as silicon valley, but I'd love to see the rats, and my dad is a taxi driver  Cheeky so you never know.  You said something about a delivery system?  Cookie That would probably be wonderful.

Thanks a lot. Just so you know, I need girls. Little girls. Ratty Smiley
Gracias.

All the rats were taking out of the HSSV. Diane from Rattie Ratz has the females and the younger boys. I have 20 older boys and a number of other rats from the Menlo Park rescue.

I have transport going through Berkley on the 25th of this month I believe. Email me if you're interested. Morrigan@jotenehim.com

When you come through on the 25th, are you going to bring me fosters from Diane? She knows that I'm willing to foster some pregnant and non-pregnant females, and sounded very interested in sending me some, but she hasn't told me if/when they'll be coming.

Caitlin, I live in Berkeley and I'm going to be fostering a mother and her babies from this rescue. If you want, you can come check out my fosters -- you'll have some choice as to personality, sex, coloration, etc that way. If you're interested, post here, PM me, or send me an email, and I'll let you know when the babies can be seen by prospective adopers.
