At work, we got two more female Siberian hamsters in.  Joy.  We're supposed to get only males.  So these two girls are probably pregnant by their brothers.  I'm still waiting for them to pop (I think it's been two weeks, and they take about 28-30 days).  So these girls, and any babies they have, need homes.  Also, there's a little mouse, black and white and VERY sweet, who escaped from his quarantine tank and broke his foot.  The vet said don't worry about it.  What a quack.  Anyway, I'd love to take this little guy home and fix him but, (1) I have to remind myself that it's not my responsibility to fix evey broken animal in the world, and (2) I don't have the money for amputative surgery for the poor little guy.  If anyone can give any of these critters a home, please call me at the Libbie Place Petsmart in Richmond, VA.  PM me for the phone number/address if interested.  O yeh, both the girl hammies are very sweet and gentle, too (miraculously).  Thanks.

I thought Syrians were only pregnant for 16-18 days?

I don't know about Syrian hamsters, but dwarves--which is what these two girls are--are pregnant for 28-30 days.  Last time we got a female dwarf in, I took her home (unknowingly), so when she had her litter I researched all the stuff about dwarf hamster breeding.  More info here:  www.hamsterific.com

Nevermind about the mouse, he died tonight.  =(  It makes me really angry too, but I couldn't do anything about it.  The hamsters are still available, and I think only one is pregnant... we'll know for sure in about a week and a half.
