I'll try to make a long story short. I've got three ratties, two girls and one boy. We are moving to Texas, and my wife has developed an allergy to them so against my better wishes I need to find a new home for my babies.

Kimi and Suni are the two girls. One is a black hooded and the other is a sandy-colored. They are both very inquisitive!

Beaker is my sweetheart, and I really don't want to give him up. He's a grey hooded with a love for tostidos corn chips and being snuggled. He's very affectionate and will chirp right next to your ear. He loves kisses too!

I'm willing to part with cages and everything, I just want to find someone that will give them the kind of home I would give them. I still have the person I bought the girls from calling his breeder, but he's having a tough time getting a hold of her, and I only have about a month and a half left. They originally came from her.

If anyone is interested, or has any helpful suggestions, please let me know. There's a lot of people in the area that have snakes, and I am not about to put an ad in the paper! Thanks.

If you still haven't found a home for them by Memorial Day, let me know. I can't take them now because we're under pre-show quarantine, but I'd be glad to help after the RMFE show is over May 24th. I'm in Minneapolis:

Thanks for the replies.

I see that you run a rattery, that gives me a lot of hope that you could take good care of them. However I need to mention something about Beaker. I rescued him from a pet shop that kept about fifteen rats in a small 3'x3' cage, and he was the meek one. So, he has this bad habit of scratching himself around the head until he gets small scabs.

I've taken him into the vet before, worried about mites, but there is no evidence of them, and he is perfectly happy and healthy. Looking at his traumatic past, I don't know if he'd get along well with other males, but I have the girls' cage right on top of his, and when I let him out to play, he seems to get along with them from outside the bars. He is really a sweetheart though, I would be very, very, very surprised to see him be agressive towards anyone.

I would also be able to take foster/keep them if you need me to. I am a little closer so if something comes up and they need to go let me know. I live over in Ashland, WI.

If that's Beaker's only problem, then it will be smooth sailing! He'll have a wonderful, happy life here with whatever veterinary care he needs. You can email me at manitou_mischief@ix.netcom.com.

Thanks everyone, I hope to find these guys a good home soon. I'll be contacting you later scout when I have access to my email (at work now) but I just wanted to ask quickly if there was anyway that you'd be able to pick them up. I have a non-air conditioned vehicle that could make it to Ashland, but not as far as the cities.

On that note, I have to mention that the girls will definately have to find a new home, but I'm still mulling over keeping beaker. I do have an animal carrying case I can use for the trip, and the moving truck will be air conditioned, but my real worry is about stops on the way there and having to leave him in a truck that may heat up inside the cab. I just don't know if it's feasible or not, but I love him so much it just tears me up to think about having to find him another home. He really is a joy in my life.

Sure, no problem.

I've found a damp towel draped over a wire cage is wonderful for the "swamp cooler" effect in cars without A/C. But you have to have air moving across the cage for it to work. You can always put Beaker in a shoulder bag when it's time to take him indoors. Works every time!
