You mean Suebee actually has a cage   I was sure she just let the little guys roam free with her all the time!

I have some new pics at home, I'll hopefully get a chance to post them tonight.

This is my old set-up. The cages are still in the same spot, but I have two Prevue cages now. Plus there are more toys, sleeping boxes, etc. inside now. FYI, the girls are on the left, the boys are on the right.

Why did you put the blanket around Ace's cage like that?  Is there a draft?

Oh no, thats Ace's special blankie, he likes to snuggle up in that blanket whenever we go away from home. It also gives him some privacy. Whenever I clean his cage I put down his blankie and he just goes to town in it. all I see is the blankie moving and popping up and down lol

I refuse to show Anna's pics to my boys.  They will start demanding their own room instead of sharing the Library with daddy and the feathered fiends.

Here's a pic of the monkey cage, the Martin's 690 - I'm borrowing it from Anna until the 695 shows up:

There's nothing under the pee corner for obvious reasons. I removed the plush mouse, wheel, and PVC pipe and put in a couple more hides and a large branch. They also have a new sleeping bag and an igloo, but I'm waiting to put those in the new cage. They have abigger food dish now, but it doesn't matter since they store all their food in the hammock.

They had a big plastic hide, but they would bring in food, chew it to bits, pee in the food bits, and sleep in the resulting mess.

Boys. Sigh.   Roll Eyes

Lenore... it's a problem if they sleep in that mess?  Oy, our boys find that to be sleeping heaven.

Actually, I keep telling the RatDaddy NOT to put cardboard boxes in there for them to sleep in cause they wet the bed and it makes a stinky mess.

Yup, that's a 695 all right... kind of like the smaller of our two cages:

What I really don't get is why, with all that room to run around and play in, a couple of our younger boys still think that connecting tube is the perfect place to take a nap!

And then they have the audacity to get their hackles up and start squeaking to beat the band when someone tries to walk through there!  *sigh*  What silly boys we have....

We've only got pics of the rat condo at the moment.

http://groups.msn.com/ShawnasShoebox/furrypals.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=249

It's changed since this was taken.  I no longer use colored rawhide for chews, so those are gone, and the rope perch has been removed so they can use it to get in & out of the cage during playtime.  THe shelves are always being rearranged, and the amount and location of hammocks changes all the time, too.

The bars on this cage are a full inch apart, but once a rat reaches the age of 3 months, they are too large to squeeze out.

I wanna rat room! *whines*

But I do have a plan. When I move back home I'm gonna discretely move my rats into my sister's room, who's still in college. Hey, she only gets to use it a few weeks a year, I might as well make a use out of it! Yellow Cute Laugh

And me getting a ruud cage too, I hope!

I have 3 Martins cages at the moment(still deciding if I should get another  R-695,RUDD, or a R-690 for the new rats I will be getting this June/July/Sept.)

These are my R-695's. The one on the left holds my 5 girls and the one on right has my 5 boys.

This is my R-670(it's on a shelf above the 95's) and it has 2 rats, Simcoe and Kinko.

All of these cages are in my room.

Aristophanes - How did you connect the two cages like that?

Here's my setup at the momemnt...  It's a Martin's 695.

Since that was taken, they've proceeded to shew holes through the hammock, as well as the hanging tube.  Getting pretty close to replacement time...

This was taken two days after I got my cages...so not all the rattie stuff was in there that's there now, and I have more pics somewhere but SOOOOO many pictures in the apt....UGGGG, couldn't find the others.

This is a pic of the girls cage-Martins 695 (the boy have the Martins ferret cage that is almost EXACTLY the same once I added a shelf-but decorated in blue)

If that doesn't show up you can look here (the ONLY rat pic on the page):

The boys' cage is on the left, and the girls' cage is on the right.  Even though it appears that they are touching, trust me, they aren't.  There's at least eight inches separating the cages - sometimes more.  The boys' cage is a Martin's R695, and the girls' is a Martin's R690.  The girls' appears bigger because I have it sitting on some crates to get it off the floor.  The boys' are on boxes, which aren't as high.

Yay! The new 695 came today, so I just spent the past few hours assembling it.

Being that Martin's seems to have a vendetta against our house, they once again forgot to include the flip-top and extra level I requested. Since anything below the main level tends to get super-yucky super fast, I usually just put cardboard boxes, paper bags, and other disposable toys on the bottom levels.

Aristophanes - How did you connect the two cages like that?

Took a handy-dandy pair of wire-clippers and snipped out circular sections from each cage so that the two holes would be directly opposite each other when the cages were in place.  Then filed and sanded the rough edges down (of course), and put doors on to cover each hole when needed.  The last step is taking a standard ferret (?) tube (has seams running lengthwise along which the tube separates into two halves) and inserting it, one half at a time.  I cut the holes pretty precisely to fit (so that the tube wouldn't wiggle around), so it can be a bear of a time inserting the thing... but the boys do seem to approve!  Ratty Smiley Blue Dumbo Smile
